Default Restrictions on what can be hard-wired (new codex)

Hi,

I got my first glance at the new Tau codex last night (one of the GW employees bought one down to our club night).

Looking at the wargear bit, the codex didn't seem to distinguish between hard point wargear and hard-wired wargear. The wargear list had all the usual ones (eg. target lock & multi-tracker), but it also surpised me that it also had the targeting array. This would mean that any shas'el would just be able to pay the price for targeting array (cost can be seen in the current white dwarf) and be 25% better at shooting, also any elite crisis monat could just pay to be a team leader with a targeting array to be 33% better at shooting.

This seems shockingly good for it's points which could lead to the targeting array being a very popular upgrade. Or have I just missed something with my reading of the rules ?

You probably didn't see this because you glanced at the Codex. If you read it thoroughly you'll probably fin that you can't hard-wire targeting arrays.

i don't think you can take them as hard wired gear

but that doesn't matter as what you do is buy it as a hard point then buy a multi tracker. that works in less you like twinlinked where you don't need the hard wire MT or using a CIB and shield.

targeting arrays are common support hard piont option now if you don't know.

OK, so what can and Can't be hardwired, and how many hardwired items can a team leader take?

Hang on!

If you're right you can hard - wire a targeting array on a Shas'O! Automatic Hits! Awesome!

Hi,

I think it also says in the rules for the targeting array that it increases BS to a max of 5.

I'm guessing then that ************** are the only ones which can't be hard-wired. I suppose the other new wargear (***************) can't be hard wired either. No probs as that still leaves a lot of new weapon/wargear combos to try out.

The commander config I'm going to give a go is Shas'el with Plasma Rifle, Cyclic Ion Blaster, Targeting Array and hard-wired multi-tracker, but I'll have to wait until I can mail order the Ion Blaster, so I'll have to stay with my trusty Twin Plasma Rifle and Missile Pod for now.

Didn't want to make another topic of what that was already made. But looking at the new book it looks like you can get more than one hardwire now.
