new xv8 weapons ?

Default new xv8 weapons ?

as i can see, quite a few people have had a peak at the new codex. i have a few questions about the two new weapons available for the crisis suits.
can the weapons be
*twin linked?
*used by the normal suits or just commanders?
*used in conjunction with each other?
roughly
*what are there rules (e.g the bs is the same as ...............)
*what is there purpose?
*how effective wil they be?
If anyone knows the answers then I would be gratefull to know. ;D

As far as I understand them...some are pretty obvvious :P

Twin-linked? No...they are all strictly ONE PER ARMY

Commanders only? Well, any Shas'Vre (or up) can take experimental gear, I believe.

Used together? I imagine so, but I'm not sure for the weapon options. I hope so in any case.

The rules? If you mean stats, they're pretty much the same.

Their purpose? All down to what you want to use them yourself.

How effective? All down to your skill level and what role you give them.

The special issue weapons/equipment can ONLY be taken by the commander and his bodyguard(thus making the bodyguard a more viable choice) and you are limited to 1 of each type.


The 2 special weapons are:

Cyclonic ion blaster
-A 5 shot hellgun with pseudo rending (6s, makes gun AP1, but doesnt auto-wound)

Air burst fragmentation launcher
-an 18" indirect fire bolter that uses the ordinance template that fires like a mortar (no line of sight required, no to hit roll, causes pinning) and ignores cover saves

There is also a host of special issue equipment, including a 2+ armour save, the hit-n-run giving jet thrusters, the escape pod (used when hes killed by a shooting attack that isnt an insta kill, giving him a chance to run away) the suicide explosives, a LD boosting device for target priority, and the stimulant injection system, which gives your commander the "feel no pain" rule (and its super cheap!)

This makes the bodyguard a very tempting choice, as you can design "fire storm" unit which gives you 15 shots and 1 ordinance template from only 2 crisis suits!!!


Commander + 1 bodyguard

Cyclonic ion blaster
=5 STR3 shots
2 burst cannons
=6 STR5 shots
4 gun drones
=4 STR5 shots
Airburst gun
=1 STR4 ordinance template.

now THATS firepower! DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA!!!!

WOW, that is firepower. Im going to have to take bodygaurds with my HQ, now.

i like that idea because i fight nids ALOT (almost my only opponent) and that should kill tons of them ;D

For a minute I almost thought Tau Commanders were overpriced as it is

While that kit is potentially very powerful, make sure you keep your use of it to a minimum :P

Personally i going to be using the special forces commander:

Shas'el with airburst fragmentation launcher, fusion blaster and shield generator, with hard wired targetlock and Stim injection system (feel no pain )

Hes going to be deepstriking with my unit of drones and go around causing havoc.

Im going to deepstrike the unit behind cover out of line of sight, then in the shooting phase i will airburst over the terrain im hiding behind (cant JSJ on turn you deepstrike). Next turn they can split or stay together and engage infantry targets and tanks simultaneously (hence the target lock)

Whats the feel no pain rule ???

Edit: Holy c**p thats like an ordinance weilding termie with re-roled saves targeting aray bs5 and a jet pack
a marine player would do more than just kill for a comander like that

if a armour save is failed by a weapon that dosn't negate your save and/or doubles your toughness "instant death". YOU MAY RE ROLL ARMOUR SAVE

actually if it's feel no pain based on the chaos codex it's simply another 4+ save after armour. still good though.
