Default Tau VDR costs

Does anyone know if there is somewhere where I can find the costs for Tau weapons for the VDR rules?

They're in one of the Chapter Approved compilations, I believe. For better examples of their vehicles, however, consult the latest Imperial Armour book

You can always look on Ebay for any cheaper copies of it lying around...always a good place to check when you're low on cash

I strongly suggest staying away from the vdr rules. yeah they are cool, but you will find you will sink TOO many points into a vehicle. besides, you said money is a problem, and I guaruntee the a VDR vehicle WILL eat a hole in your pocket. The vdr rules are built around WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). if it isn't modeled, you can't use it. just my 2 cents

If you build a Devilfish or a Hammerhead via VDR rules, you actually pay quite a bit more.

If VDR is allowed in your area, I've always considered a light buggy with human auxiliaries driving and a Ion Cannon on the back. Takes a fast attack slot, doesn't cost too much, and provides some decent mobile fire for the Tau army.

I've always just used the Armybuilder VDR stuff, but I'll probably pick up a cheap used Chapter Approved someday.

I like making civilian vehicles with VDR rules just so you start to look at a Rhino and go "WOW!". Compared to the things I'd make for a small little town under attack by rebels, it's amazing

Now that the skyray and pirahnas are making it into the new codex, there is little need for vehicles that an existing design does not already fill. Forgeworld models do a good job covering what is left.

Nevertheless.....
There is one thing that the tau could use in there army, and that is a dedicated cityfight vehicle. I love the smart missle system, and would dearly like to rain firey death on my opponents from out of sight. to that effect I have modeled two experimental tau vehicles that both have twin linked, gatling smart missile systems with entended barrels. That particular combo gives an 80 point weapon, with STR 5, AP5, HVY 4D3, 36" range, for 80 points.

If that seems over expensive, remember that you can afford to skimp on the armor because you do not need line of sight with your weapon.

But I really built the models because I could, and tehn made up stats for the. I'm really proud of my little skimmer, it looks exactly like a miniature devilfish and doesn't use a single GW part.
