Default Would you?

Would you play against a phantom army? A phantom army is an army that is made by tracing models onto paper and cutting it out. I think its fine, and 500X more cost effiecent (10 cents for an army vs. $200). Also I like it, because Games Workshop is WAY too exspensive. I mean, selling $35 of F.W when it cost them $5? That annoys me. So... what do you think? Would you?

No, I find it silly. Their models, not paper, plus the whole hobby part of warhammer isn't there. And its more like $400.

One of our club member does that at the moment. I find it a little distracting, to be honest. He took the time to make little upright paper mock-ups for them, but it is still a little difficult to keep your head on what unit is where. I don't mind it when a player is trying out a new army, but it really isn't fair to the other players if they do it long-term.

I don't think I would ever let someone do this. Part of the fun of the game is having figs on the board. Even if they are not painted it sure beats paper tokens. But if you're ok with it or your opponent is ok with it by all means have a blast.

Well, if they're testing their army list I could go along with it, but for more then a few battles... no.

if they are a n00b then its fine because they probably dont have much assembled and are figuring out their force but after a few battles you should be able to put up with what youve got and if your a veteran use models from another army as proxies

I say no. The whole point of Warhammer is the models to me - it makes the game s o much better

I have a minimal budget, and between never having a chance to buy models, and never getting to paint them during the winter (bloody cold, and bloody pricey to heat the workshop), I tend to bring bases with no models on them to represent at least one squad... and a digital camera & cellphone have stood in good stead for Vypers.

An experienced player trying to pull it on me, I would pack up and leave... but a new guy, trying to get the hang of things or see if they like the hobby/army before investing... all power to them.
