Native North Americans never had an alphabet. At most, they had petroglyphs. Usually they passed things along by word of mouth. Make little stick figures on the edge or something, and come up with some crazy sounding name.
MesoAmericans, such as Aztec and Mayan, just to name two, had a more advanced heiroglyphic alphabet. This would look like a lot of square shaped animals.

I would go with the stick figures though. Fits more with the kroot image.

here's a link to some native american symbols...

http://www.geocities.com/ctesibos/sy...-american.html

although there is no alphebet, i guess you could still make up some names using the meanings of the symbols, even make new ones up for more relevant words
