Default Mobile crisis cover a new idea!

Hey guys i just thought of this since our customisable comrads in crisis battle suits are suited for pop in pop out tacticts why not take a devil-fish with minimal upgrades as cover for them by having it land when you need it to for some mobile cover and even if it gets destroyed it still blocks LOS

i. e. the crisises get near perfect protection from shooty stuff

what do ya think guys... ;D

That's kind of expensive. 80 pionts is better spent of 8 more FWs. And AV12 is not always garunteed.

In 3rd edition I used devilfish all the time to screen my crisis suits, as skimmers still blocked line of site. The difference, however, was that the skimmer could actually be moving to some other purpose besides acting as terrain for the crisis suits.....that was just a perk.

In this case, we're talking about basically sacrificing 80 points for a piece of terrain. While it may be worth it if the board has no terrain at all, in most situations I think there are probably better options out there.

It's still something to keep in mind, however. I'd rather lose the non-scoring devilfish than the scoring crisis team that needs to jump out into the open to avoid oncoming assaulty troops, and against drop troops, there may be some use in shielding more valuable units with the landed d-fish.

It would be worth it if it had nothing else to do, but then again you can always TANK SHOCK w/ you 80 pt 'fish >

Indeed. Marine players (The smart ones) have used their rhinos like this for a long time.

A devilfish is just a little bit better than a rhino though. And of more use to troops that don't carry friggin tank armor on their backs.

Tank shock... almost never seems worth it. Occasionally you get a narrow channel where you can shove the enemy backwards, but more often they just squeeze over to the side. Nobody fails a morale check.

Um...... I've thought of that many times but you do know you can see under skimmers don't you? Just checking. I guess it could work as assault cover (assuming they don't have jump packs) but Devilfish side armour isn't that hard to penetrate.

Hehe, I once had a devilfish force 2 Tac Squads off of an objective using tank shock ;D, that was a good moment.

I see the Devilfish as a light mobile gunship after it's dropped it's cargo and they won't be picked up again or just as their fire support if they will be. I don't really like the idea of using them as cover for anyone, even Vespid or Crisis teams since they cost far too much to deliberately crash like that.
