Default The struggle begins: Broadside vs Sniper drones

Hi boys...

Why am i asking you to compare those 2 units? because they are the 2 non vehicle Heavy support in the new codex...

The question is... if you had 1 choice only would you choose drones of Bsides?
I know it depends on the army you have composed but if so explain in wich army BS are better and in with Drones are better and why...

I want to know all ya think boys!!
Start debating!!

- MY OPINION -

Initially i fell in love with sniper drones. The first time you read it they seem very very very good. Good range, ap3, stealth field and slightly cheap.
Thinking better about it i came to the conclusion that not all that glitter is gold .. They are immobile and they HAVE to be placed in clear line of sight with enemy and they can be avoided much easier than broadside...
On the other hand BS are really devastating and survivable just as like drones... In the end i think i will play BS but i will for sure give a try to those little nasty drones..

Broadsides provide my main anti-tank firepower, so I'm not going to caste them by the wayside. If anything, it's the Hammerheads that can take a running jump; Guard are the only army where I insist on big tanks.

the guard can shove their tanks! ;D

For me, there is no question: 3 hammerheads. always and ever.

I think the image of tiny little drones hovering around and shooting at people is amusing and funky, but not overwhelmingly useful.

For me, it's all about the Hammerheads. If I played foot or balanced Tau, I'd take me some Broadside action, but no...it's going to be Hammerheads alone. Two preferably, three possibly in a big enough game.

I need anti-power armor, and I have one open HS choice, so Sniper Drones or a Skyray will fill it.

Ion cannon Hammerhead is an option too...and now it's even cheaper!

hammer head is overated. the sniper drones will offer a unit which will on average will provide a pining at every on it shoots at and occationaly reduce pining tests. now that is good no matter what you lot say

Aye, the original argument here was not about Hammers at all...forgive me.

It is about which we see as more useful: Broadsides or Sniper drones.

Based purely on cheapness and redundancy (you can have 3 teams for one choice), the Drones would do it for me. They throw out enough firepower to take down heavy infantry and even light vehicles, assuming nothing better to shoot at is going around. They're harder to hit, less of a perceived threat (VERY important) and can be split up to be everywhere at once. Broadsides are anti-tank power...and far more expensive thusly. If you need to take down tanks like nothing else, take them instead. For general needs, I'd advise the Drones myself.

I agree 100% with this. Plus you get the added bonus of a pinning check. Always a good thing.
