Default Railguns?

Are heavy weapon slots still going to be the only source of railguns in the new Codex? If so, I am seeing very little use sniper drones and the skyray

What are your opinions guys?

Yes, railguns will stay in the heavy section. Fusion blasters will be more widely available though (XV25s and Piranha's). My Heavy slots now have some competition. I want to use some sniper drones AND a skyray..

I would imagine that we would see less railguns actually, or at least some variation in heavy support choices rather than pure railheads.

Sometimes it is not a matter of learning, but a careful opponent may make it very difficult for you to get close enough to make the fusion blaster hurt.

Then, logically, it's your job to give him something else to worry about.

Railguns are going to stay in the heavies. However the Fusion Blaster will be more widely available as mentioned previously. I personally like the Fusion Blaster, its not that tricky to use, you just have to get used to the idea of getting close and personal... while not close enough to get cought in close combat. It is a tricky thing sometimes but can be done especially to an unwary opponent who has his eyes focused on those railguns.

Never underestimate a Fusion Blaster. My Helios has saved me more times than I can count (unless I tried! :P). The ability to reliably take down anything in a Space Marine army is priceless.

That's another good point - The fusion Piranha has an effective 24" range, and can hit a target 48" distant by the second turn, while presenting AV11 to return fire.

24" 1st turn move, 12" second + 6" for the Melta effect = 42"

Plenty on normal gaming boards.
