Default Fish of Fury, illegal to shoot under skimmers?

Where does it say you can shoot UNDER skimmers, but enemy can't shoot back or assault back? I'd love it if it works, but it sounds like a rules rape to me. Please prove me wrong as I'd love to use it. I just can't see any good comp allowing it.

They can shoot you, but will have to take a leadership test because the Devilfish is closer. They just can't assault you, unless they have Jump Packs.

You never need a leadership targeting check for shooting at vehicals. If you were behind another unit, then yes you would, but you are not so you don't.

First of all, the enemy can shoot back. FoF takes advantage of the rule in the Line of Sight section of the core rulebook (p20) that says skimmers only block LoS if they are on the ground (immobilised or dead). It also takes advantage of the movement rules (p15) that say in any movement phase a model may not move within 1 inch of an enemy model. The idea is to dissembark your Firewarriors just under 12 inches away, rapid fire and kill as many models as possible. Your opponent has to remove models within the rapid fire range, hopefully all models within 12" will die. If you enemy tries to assault you, he needs to go around the Devilfish, theoretically giving you enough of a buffer zone to aviod an assault.

This is a common mistake. I suggest you re-read your rulebook. You may ignore close infantry to shoot at vehicles/monsters that are far away, but you may not ignore close vehicles to shoot at farther infantry.

Enemy shooters must pass a target priority check to shoot at Firewarriors that are behind a Devilfish.

Thanks guys, that's great. Its useful against low leadership armies, but only gives a small amount of ablative armour for marines to chew through before they get you. Still, its better to lose 80 points of devilfish and still shoot baddie marines than 120 points of firewarriors just trying to get there!
Thanks again.

fortunately, the fire warriors have a 4+ armour save and (should) have a 7 (or *) re-rollable leadership, so personally i am less worried about return fire than being assaulted.
