Default Technology = Evolution?

It says in Tau history there were periods of rapid evolution. This in turn made their race grow at an astonishing rate.

My question is: Do you think that in present time the Tau would use their technology now to further their evolution?

Any and all replies welcomed.

Probably not. In the codex, they only use a more "natural" way to control their evolution. And that's with breeding only in their caste. There is no evidence about using tech to futher evolve.

I would say the the arrival of the ethereals and caste system they tau went through a genetic change to suit their roles (epi-genetics) which is why now different castes are actually physiogically different.

thats what i think they mean by evolution.

well wouldn't they devolve since they would have a smaller gene pool?

Well, actually I was thinking more like this:

A: Enhancing the Air castes hand-eye coordination, or Fire castes endurance?

B: Maybe life expectancy?

C: New worlds harsh environments?

Personally, I think the Tau would try to utilize their technology to the fullest. Not just weapons and living essentials.

A lot of people seem to believe that by splitting into Castes, the Tau are somehow inbreeding.

People, there are billions of Tau in each Caste... I heard somewhere that the Tau's total population was about that of a Hive World, so that's about 300 billion. Split that into the seperate Castes, and there's still plenty of genetic material to go around.

Ditto with wargamer here. The total earth population today is a a current 6 billion+.

If you have 300 billion tau, their gene-pool won't run out for a very, very, very, very, very long time.

Besides the high population, Tau also use genetic engineering. So really, evolutionary rate depends on what the Fio caste's program calls for and how that effects the evolution cycles of the race.

devolve
[quote/]

??? you cant devolve nothing devolves if your using darwins theory. if your using chrisitian evolution theory posibley

also a small gene pool just leads to more mutations and then it isnt very small after a bit.

thought why do the etherals (GW) stop intercaste breading. also does farsight allow interbreading?
