Default Tau Becoming the Next Anti-Marine Army?

Eldar take that position now, but it seems like their Star Cannons and Wraithlords and such are being weakened, and our power weapon killing guns are getting stronger. We have Fireknife, Burning Eye, and Helios Crisis Suits, Rail Rifle Pathfinders, Ionheads, and are getting Vespids, Sniper Drones, XV25 Fusion Blaster Stealthsuits, and more. Are the Tau going to become the generic anti-power armor army after March?

The problem that tau have is that our plasma is shorter range, and usually mounted in/on an expensive or fragile unit, whereas eldar can take them inside regular squads, and on specially mounted vehicles. But i do agree with you that a lot of marines players are going to cry cheese when they face the new tau armies, but who cares? its a marine players, deck him!

i do believe an ionhead can become the next MBT for tau, with a cheaper points costs and the capability to churn out 7STR7 and 8STR5 shots (drone upgrade) with BS2 per turn using only 1 markerlight,i gonna make any tactical unit disintigrate. mhuahahahaha.

...7 s7 shots from an ionhead? I'm gonna guess that's a typo.

And also, the drone upgrade will now replace the secondary system, not go in addition to it. Still, I have always liked ionheads and may like them even more now.

There's nothing cheezy about a Burst Ionhead. It makes an awesome hoard-killer, and is my default tank. Railheads are for noobs, and people without imagination. It's just such an over-used vehicle.

It's not?

But at least with wargamer's info, I am relieved that I have made the right choice for one of my 2 hammerheads in my 1st 1000 point tau army.

Tau are quite capable of dealing with power armor however I do not think they will become the generic anti marine army. Eldar will likely still hold that position and hold it even better when their codex is redone. Tau do not have the durability to fully take that title as sniper drones will be static and expencive, rail rifle pathfinders are costly, crisis suite weapons though powerfull arent that numerous and can be ruined with just a little bad luck. Even the ionhead and railgun arent that great of marine killers. They do it well enough but they arent going to be replacing the scary might that is the star cannon anytime soon.

That is just what I think however.

Though starcannons are better piont-for-piont to kill SMurfs, the ionhead is better in range, and stregth (though it costas a lot more).

I agree that tau would not be a anti-Smurf army, unless the Tau player is noob.

You really should stop with the generic insults. There are many players who use railheads, and we are neither noobs nor without imagination.

Hey, tauplayer! long time no see dude!

But I have to agree with tauplayer here,a Tau army is not complete without railguns in my opinion, and for mech tau thyat means railheads.
