Default A use for the Vespid?

I've heard many people label Vespids as rather ineffective. Having looked at the stats myself I'm rather inclined to agree. There is one thing that I am wondering about though: Can Vespids take EMP grenades?

If Vespids can indeed take EMP grenades I would seriously consider fielding some of them. Your thoughts?

Support the sutis. Them doubled with some TL Plasma fire could easily kill a whole squad of marines in one round.

They are only truly effective when the mobility of a Mech Cadre are used to it's full potential... Thys a table with heavy terrain...

You need to isolate the target and bring alot of support... Use the stingwings to ensure that the target dies and only IF the chances are in your favour... (3 marines left? Use the stings to take 'em out!)

Grabbing objective in the endgame comes to mind, but then I prefare the piranha...

Well, seeing as Marines don't fall back, you can always chase down a small squad and get them with the Vespids.

AFAIK, they can't take photons/EMPs.

Pros and Cons

+ Fast 12-18" move (Get to the action, fast!)
+ AP3 Neutron Gun (Death to Power Armour, without cover saves that is...)
+ Wings (Over walls and other obstacles.)
+ No dangerous terrain tests (No crashing into trees or rubble.)

- 5+ SV (Almost anything will kill it, no save...)
- Expensive (~16 pt Vespid /~22 pt Leader)
- Needs Markerlight support (Can't take out half a Tac Squad without it!)
- Restricted movement (Needs to stay in cover at all times, or else...)

To me, it really looks like an expensive AP3 specialist that while effective, is way too specialized and fragile to be counted on in general. The other fast attack options are still more appealing in a "fight anything" list. I'm sure they might still be quite fun to use in certain cover heavy games against power armored enemies. I just don't see them earning their points back in the long run.

Can they DS?

I can see using them in a similar way to swooping hawks (probably where the idea came from anyway).

I think they might make a good mobile reserve force to seize a table quarter at the last minute or pounce on a non-scoring unit.

Are the weapons rapid fire or assault?
