I've got something along those lines. I used a random plastic thing I found down by a riverbank, and put an Ion Cannon on the top. The plastic thing was just the right shape and size, and even had what looked like coolant pipes running down into the base. Freaky huh?

Here try this link:

out of interest does anyone know if these have the ability to move ie open and close the tops so that the guns pop out? Think that would look very cool

This one is a long shot, but see if anyone you know has purchased an iMac in the recent past (not the newest or the older one, but the kind with a hemispherical base with the monitor sticking out). Mac's styrofoam inserts have always been more rounded than their competitors', and they use a fairly dense foam. Add the gun itself, and you have a perfect planetary defense objective.

In this picture, the computer is sitting on top of the piece you want.

Are you thinking of a starship-scale Ion Cannon for anti-fleet use (Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back)?

Fluffwise, you should probably keep it as small as possible - remember, Tau don't hold territory as a rule and don't invest too heavily in static defenses.
