Default Q: Tau Shoulder Pad symbol

I was thinking of replacing the T'au sept symbol on the shoulder pad of a Fire Warrior (and thusly, replacing any other T'au sept symbol I can find) with a custom design made out of green stuff.

Now I know that there's a little blurb in the current codex in the Painting section that the reason that symbol is the T'au sept is that they're honouring their home-world, so the symbol is the same for everyone.

Now, my question is that would it be "acceptable" for my Tau to have their own sept symbol, replacing the T'au symbol?

Of course there'd be fluff for why I'm doing it, but is this something along the same lines of having an Inquisitor in a Dark Angel army?

Cheers,
Lawrence.

Meh, the tau empire lets a bunch of canibalistic bird-men hang around, so I dont think they would have a problem with a hunter cadre displaying their own sept symbol on their armour

I don't see any problem with it game wise. It doesn't make them any more effective in any way, so nobody should complain. As far as fluff, it's no problem (assuming they aren't from t'au :)

Isn't it kind of strange the far-sight's warriors have that symbol though?

the tau assimilate the "birdmen" into their society and they kick serious [] plus they look perfectly huggable :-*

i think its a great idea. it would help to unify the army, i mean if the firewarriors had one symbol and your crisis suits had another...

The Tau aren't really materialistic to worry about changing a sept symbol. That would look cool.

Thanks, I found it on my travels looking for ways to spice up some FW. In the end I never bothered with any conversions, but maybe when I have my basic army done I'll be more adventurous.

Hehe, that's exactly the site that inspired me to do so!

Thanks for the support guys. Now, to get the other 11 Fire Warriors assembled...

Cheers,
Lawrence.
