Default What the SMS arc of fire ?

Is it 90. 180 or 360 ?? I presume it is 360 as no line of sight is needed, which mean the missiles can go arround any obstacles and so un, can probably do a U turn ... But maybe I'm wrong ...

I think all infantry models (like broadside) have 360 degree LOS.
(Now Im sort of expecting someone to dig up the exception...)

Yup it's 360 , not only do they go around they also go over objects . Just measure 24 inches from the firing unit to the target. I would how ever measure from where the SMS is mounted to the target . And remember that it ignores night fight rules for spotting distances.

That is actually a very good question as it pertains to the SMS on the Hammerhead (the Broadside is 360 with no question). We never have had a very clear answer on the normal LOS for the "sockets" on the Devilfish and Hammerhead. I would just play with a 360-degree arc, but I am not entirely sure.

The SMS does not require line of sight.

360 degree arc is the only answer here. All distances are measured from the closest tank hull just like all other weapons. Normally it's LOS that's determined from the Weapon Mount, not range.

I would concour that the SMS would have 360 arc of fire simply because, you could imagine the missiles simply firing forward then turning around immediately. Theres a brlliant little smipet about a SMS firing in one of the very old WDs, evading glass panes, walls, etc.

Normally, I'd say the drones on devilfish/burst on hammerhead, have a 270 arc, only blocked by tank itself.

It doesn't. It specifically says in the codex that Night Fight spotting distance rules still apply, as the drones in the missiles find it harder to spot targets at night.
And since they don't need LoS, I would say they have a 360 degree arc.

Can you point out where it says that?

A vehicles base is assumed to be it's hull (page 6 of the rulebook). Distance to target is measured from the closest model (page 22 of the rulebook), and all measurements use the closest point on the base of a unit (also page 6). There is no specific designation of measuring distance for vehicles, only LOS determination (page 64). Since there is no rule specifically for vehicles you must then fall back on the shooting rules.

This was clarified in the TAU FAQ version 4.01, which specifically overrides the codex. Check here -
