would it be considered a good thing or bad for the 40K?

its been said before.

bs4 tau is broken. there is no sane reason to give it to them. guardsmen are bs3 and are superbly trained, better than quite a few of our own special forces. For a tau fire warrior to train to be the equivelant of a cadian, mordian, etcetera is awesome. fire warriors are grunts. they are not super elite troopers, nor are they special forces, like IG stormtroopers. bs3 is fine for them.

besides, with the new codex, and the new markerlight rules, you'll be able to fire with your enitre fire warrior squad being bs5.

They are the grey warriors, ashen like the wolf, whose greatest joy is to hear the clamour of steel amidst the din of war. None can step before them, they are the first, proud in their strength and jealous of their renown. Through the storms of the warp they come, upon the very tides of terror, but of such dangers they are uncaring. They are the Space Wolves, the Undefeated, the bane of the Emperor's foes."

This topic comes up every two weeks or so, and has gotten heated in the past. So be careful.

You can rationalize why Tau should have BS 3 in the fluff, but the game-mechanics reasons are really what drove the decision. Tau can not be balanced with BS 4. Fire Warriors would cost at least twice as much as they do now, and unarmoured forces like Orks or Tyranids would never have a chance. On top of that, it would completely remove the need for markerlights, which were intended to be a fairly fundamental part of the Tau army. As Deadnight pointed out, the update will make Markerlights even more important, and should stamp out most of the complaints about the Tau having low BS.

exactly- as to fluff, the Imperial comparison doesn't make sense because a Firewarrior is given a comparitive training regime to Sisters of Battle. BS4 is a impossible for game mechanica- not fluff. that should be an end to the problem i believe as this has been brought up countless times.

There is no way that FW should get a BS increase without the help of a marker light. I would say give Pathfinders a higher BS if the Markerlights werent going to become incredibly powerful, but they are...so, yea

I'd rather have 2 Markerlights giving me a JSJing Stealth Team producing 18 shots at BS5 than BS4 and a higher point cost. Just be patient and you will find Tau to be highly accurate soon.

The only thing I would like is ether A suits be bs 4. or B using a markerlight (Firing one) gives bs4.

The Imperial Guard is given training to match or exceed modern-day special forces, as has been said time and time again. If you don't mind every Plasmagun and Lascannon in your buddies Guard army being BS4, then feel free to say that your Tau do aswell. You can't have the double standard, though.

With all this talk of Markerlights increasing the BS of a unit, does any one know how a Seeker Missile will work now? Would it run off the Tanks BS?
