Default Tau 2nd Edition Rules

Hi every one, I've been taking part in a local second edition w40k tournment, and Im the only player with a Tau army. (I've been using space marines up until now.) Can any one tell me has any one converted the tau rules for second edition at all? Stats are the same obviously enough, mostly rules relating to weapons and stealth suits/ jump packs need creating and points values. If it exists some where online and you know where please let me know, Otherwise Im going to write it myself. Or even if there any resources online in relation to converting rules for 3rd ed models to 2nd ed. And yes and I know 2nd edition is outdate but these are some old school folks running the tournement.

Many Thanks
Belchlord

I strongly doubt anyone will have bothered converting Tau to second edition so I reckon your going to be stuck doing them yourself if you want to play with them.

Good luck with that...

Welcome to the Forums!

I have never heard of or seen such a thing. I am not even sure the Tau could be balanced in 2nd edition. I would be tempted to use "counts-as" rules from another army, possibly guardian-heavy Eldar. If the tournament is choosing to ignore the updated rules, it doesn't seem fair to be too picky on WYSIWYG.

How about these:

Found them recently, still haven't really looked at them myself, though.

Greetings, Modhail.

Why would they still use 2nd edition rules?

Default Because

Its the best edition rules. everyone raves on how good the new rules are but they are pants. no tactics no nothing. in 2nd edition you had to use cover as it di give you a better rate of servivle and not just either use cover or use armour save, why not both like it was back then.
The folowing rules have literaly been created because some people cant count, so it would seem, thats all it was. simple subtractions and yet they keep them in warhammer. pointless

Hope that answers your question why still play in 2nd edition rules
