Default Is it worth the cheese calls? (Using single Crisis suits)

Was wondering if anyone else does this and do you get cheese calls? In 1500 point games I play with a shas'o and 2 crisis suits played as two seperate squads. This allow you to
A not be tied up by CC
B Requires individual targeting
C Basically re-roll targeting rolls.
D Mobility
E Free Target Lock

Of course in higher point games I make the squads larger.
It is a lil cheese as I could play them together, but I find them highly effective. What are your takes on it?

Take the Unofficial Warhammer 40,000 Power Gamer Army Purity Test - and apply it to whatever army list you're using. Then you'll see if its worth being called cheesy. The main 'cheese' factor though, is the fact that you're taking two Shas'o's in merely 1500 points. I only take one Shas'El to fit in with fluff - Shas'O's are usually for large engagements/battles etc, and you'd probably only see one at most in small battles. Shas'El's on the other hand, are seen in pretty much anything that the Shas'O isn't.

Edit: Oops, it was one shas'o..

I don't like that power gamer test because a lot of stuff doesn't make sense. For example more special units (everything except troops) then troops.... well ya thats likely. Not to mention this is redundent with Troops being a % greater or less then 50%. All troops have the same weapon configuration.... we are tau we only have two weapons to choose from.

And the deffinitions are too broad. I play with fluff all the time. In fact with group games I usually piss off my ally because I want to try something new and experimentive.

I got a nine =/ Pure wargamer.

Yes... that thing is generally a good indication of what "might" be beardy. Let me set your straight:

Tau are one of the best developed races GW has ever created. We cannot beard. So we might as well go all out with what we do have, shouldn't we?

I get 90, holy spaghetti .

King of Totally Insane Cheating Power Gamers: Surprisingly, winning is not important - not even relevant - to such players. Their real motives are beyond understanding, much as God is beyond the comprehension of mortal man.

I'd have to disagree.

Anyway, you're better off talking to your friends and fellow gamers about the tactic, rather than trying to prove it's not cheesy using an internet forum.

You're definetely right that single units of crisis suits are more effective.

It seems the Tau lists seem to throw off the PGTest just a hair. After all, we've quite a few solid list choices that are 1-3; taking minimum levels for these is sometimes just common sense!

If I'm reading the original question correctly Amaliel, you're asking if a 1500 list with one Shas'O and two seperate Crisis suits is cheesy? After consideration, I'd answer "No"; it seems like a reasonable thing to do, depending on who you are facing, and allows for a fantastic degree of flexibility, which is *always* good!

Ooops. One Shas'o. Not the two that I read. Ok, nothing wrong with that portion of the list, I do the exact same thing except with a Shas'El instead. Monat's are fairly common in smaller games with Tau, unless you absolutely max out on XV8's early on.

Though I guess the cheesyness might come from the rest of the list, though I doubt it unless you're putting a lot of points into your heavy support.

I guess the PGTest was expecting a Static Tau army that maxes out on Fire Warriors or something.

For the record, I just got 7 (Wargamer) on the list I'm working my way up to. The main thing was the number of troops choices vs non-troops (+4 points) - as a result of taking monats..

Monats are not cheesy. They just make good sense. I agree with MechTau on this one. Even when you take a Tau list that scores relatively high on the powergamer test, it usually won't be overpowering enough that you get complaints from your opponents. While fielding two six-man Fire Warrior teams backed up by nine Broadsides might raise a few eyebrows, taking a few Monats is fine.

Oh I guess I can post the rest of my list if it helps

Shas'o
Fusion/plasma rifle Multi
Drone Controller 2x shields (I know they suck, but I like em =))

Ethereal

Crisis
Plasma/pods multi

Crisis
Plasma/pods/multi

3x Stealth team (I know, small, but I can't get em any bigger because of limited models)

11x Firewarriors
2x carbines (thinking of getting rid of these)
devilfish w/ mt dl 1x sm

11x firewarriors
2x carbines (thinking of getting rid of these)
devilfish w/ mt dl 1x sm

11x Kroot Squad
I know most people shun small squads, but I find mine to do quite well. I just use them as skirmishers in the trees.

5x Pathfinders
2x Rail rifles
Devilfish w/ mt dl 1x
I find these guys to make wonder support units and bait for traps

Railhead
sms mt/tl/dp/dl

Railhead
sms mt/tl/dp/dl

While we are on the topic, any suggestions will be considered.

I wouldn't call that cheesy by any means. You have more troops than you need, and you have kept a good balance between Heavy Support, Fast Attack, and Elite choices. There are a few recommendations I could make (drop the Carbines and the Shield drones until the update), but it looks like a pretty standard Tau force. Have you been getting complaints about it?
