Default Does it matter?

Im tired of hearing that tau are physically weak, that they're slow, that another race is better then them, well think of it this way. Tau are physically weak, but you dont see them charging into close combat. No, you see them shooting from a distance, which is what they're good at. They might be slow, thats why they developed jetpacks, grav tanks, and battlesuits, which are not slow. And another, other races aren't better, they can be... but sometimes they aren't. Warhammer 40k is devised completely on luck, if you roll 1's all day, your gonna die. Thats how it is.

First off, Tau aren't physically weak. They are just as strong as the average human male is. What makes Tau ineffective in most hand to hand engagements is their Initiative. Their inability to move and perceive their immediate surroundings quickly in a swirling melee is their only downfall. Realizing this shortcoming, the Tau have done their best to use their technology to minimize this weakness by exploiting their strengths in ranged warfare.

And opponent will never know how bad Tau suck at hand to hand, if you never let them get into hand to hand with you.

Preventing hand to hand combat is not always possible I agree, but a well thought out strategy and a little luck of the dice can really punish an opponent's attempt to close in on you.

Typical 40k players are just upset when we rely on shooting and mobility instead of striding across an open field hoping to close with the enemy. If more thought was placed on good deployment and limiting casualties by use of terrain and denying LOS Tau would'nt dominate MEQs so regularly. Stealthpredator
