Default Fluff question for Hammerhead

In the codex, it states that the devilfish and hammerheads are pressurized. So, on an aqua - world, could they "swim" under the surface for a suprise attack?

Thanks in adavance,

The Mothman

I would say no.

Pressurization is different between Submarines and Aircraft - Subs keep it out, Aircraft keep it in. The designs for structual integrity of both are vastly different.

To the best of my knowledge, the only vehicle in 40k rated for underwater was the Land Raider - but it still needs to make difficult terrain tests. Not even sure if that's still the case in 4th edition.

Their jets aren't for moving underwater.

As stated, the Hammerhead is designed to handle low internal pressures. However, even then I doubt the degree of pressurisation; in all likelihood, it's just designed to operate in toxic environments. If you tried to use it at extreme altitutes, it would explode.

Likewise, taking it deep underwater (assuming its engines worked, which I don't think they would) it would implode.

I can't imagine why you'd want to... but theoretically, yes.

I would say yes becuase it's a Devilfish ;D

seriously though, jet engines don't work so well underwater. While the devilfish/hammerhead may be able to keep an airtight seal underwater, it would have no way of propulsion, no ballast tanks to control depth, and would probably just float there till somebody popped the hatch.

I meant that there are much better vehicles to base a sub on. The Orca, for example, or even the Manta. With modification, both could make excellent underwater vehicles.

what? no no no- the Tau pressurize their vehicles because they deploy them from the air and because they are essentially "flyers" being skimmers. the Tau have yet to create a submersable vessel, this could be a variety of reasons ranging from the fact they are desert dwellers to being able to function without the need to have submersable fighting craft.

I think the "presurised enviornment" is a fancy way to say it is enclosed. This is stop people from thinking there are firepionts (as stated in the codex)
