Default tau burial ceremony?

What do they do to their dead? We bury or cremate them, so what is their style?

According to hints in the novel Fire Warrior, the Fire Caste burn their dead upon a funeral pyre. Fitting, for the Fire Caste.

I don't know if that method is universal for all Tau, or just Shas.

If you say that their bodies are disposed off with their respective element, what about the aun?

I didn't, I said it may. For all I know, they could all be burned upon pyres. All the novel answers is the Shas funeral method.

As for Ethereals, I'm inclined to go with enshrinement in a temple, if they use a different method.

Oh oppsss. :P

But wouldn't it be cool if they are disposed according to their respective elemnts

Fire:Cremation

Waterut body on raft and just burn and float them away(just like those river ganges funeral).

Earth:buried in the ground.

Air: dump them into space.

Ethereal: mummify them.

I think there was a topic on this a while back.
Anyway, yeah, the fire caste are burned. I dont know if the rest are elementally buried, but that would be cool.
I agree with all of the ways you said vyper. I think that those were the ways the other topic thought.
And... the aun might do a pattern, the first goes fire style, then water, earth, and air. Or they could just be put in a tomb.

Thanks toast.

But one thing. Will the body of an Aun sirive all 4 elements?

Yeah, much easier to stuff them in a tomb anyway. ;D

Uh-uh. No elemental burial. Remember that the elemental names are just the caste names translated into english (high-gothic) and do not necessarily have any connection to any real world "elements". I suspect that they would all be incinerated when possible (much more "tauish") and burned at a pyre otherwise.

It is possible, but as said in the other thread by someone, death is one of the biggest mysteries, and the Caste system is the closest thing to religion the Tau have. (They do have shrines thought, I think Aun´Shi fluff mentions one, and remember others too) But I don´t think it would be too far fetched that the Tau would continue in death what they were in life. Who knows. Would make a interesting fluff addition IMO.

Yeah, maybe they don't even keep the ashes. Maybe they use it for fertilizer......It is for the Greater Good right? The dead shall use their dead bodies to fertilize the crops to save the other. ;D
