Default Kau'yon and Mont'ka: Bait and Moving

Couple of things:

I've been looking at Tau tactics, and it seems to me that Kau'yon works like Mongol tactics of old with ambushing whereas the Mont'ka is more like Mongol castle seiging.

That being said, I have some things i noticed and some questions i'd like to ask:

Kau'yon: One, it seems that this is much better suited vs. fast attack. Two, this seems to be where Mech tau shows up best in my opinion - mobile units vs. fast attack would do much better than stationary ones.

What is the best bait? i was thinking either Stealth suits for their ability to JSJ and lure in fast attack infrantry, Kroot for their low cost, or drones, i also read a post about ethereal/fw squads.

Mont'ka: One point seems to be that like castle seiging, Mont'ka is best used against heavier artillery and seems to invoke more stationary units than Kau'yon does (Broadsides mostly for facing the tech, but also FW's in FoF positioning) On the other hand, moving units facing heavy fire usually do better because they can get out of LoS and into cover. Not using transports for either, of course (unless they landed).

In Mont'ka, do you prefer moving units or static?

I'm thinking of Mont'ka as kind of riding around the castle lobbing in arrows while firing trebuchets from the back and having your gunpowder missiles also in stationary placement further back from the castle wall ( a hybrid army if you will).

Ok. Mont'ka is moving toward the opponent... Kau'yon is predicting where they will go, setting up, and then blasting.

Its all really vague and useless to think about too much...

nah. mont'ka is more of a out- flanking move rather than a siege move.

Kauyon would be more static and it works dozens of time in bringing out the ones under siege to their doom.(this bit comes from the sun bin's art of war and other chinese military books)

It's Sun Tzu, but...

the mont'ka and kau'yon in teh Tau codex are interesting, but can be misleading. If you want to use Kay'oun, experiment a bit, to see what you like, same iwth Mont'ka. During the course of battle, you'll use both, for claming objectives, tactical retreats, and the like. Remember, the battlefield is change, the wise adapt.

No, Sun Tzu is all about NOT doing a Siege at all. Hers a line from Sun Tzu;

Capture cities without a siege.

But his descendant, Sun bin have dozens of siege warfare tactics. in mind. This is a line from sun bin's art of war(I say a superior treatise)

King weiwang:How to defeat enemies that have been driven into an impasse?

Sun bin:First do not push him too hard. Try to wipe him out when he attemps to fight his way out

It is true that Sun bin is a descendant of SunTzu.
