Default Tau Batallion

Hey I'm probably going to start a Tau Army and i was just wondering if I should be buying the old batallion with the new range coming out. The only reason i ask this is because you get roughly $130 worth of product for $90. Will the crisis suits, fire warriors and kroot really change that much with the new set? And also if i do buy a batallion, should i buy a second one to save money. I surly plan on including at least 2 full units of fire warriors (really like 4-5) and 6 crisis suits. The kroot im not sure about, but if im essentially getting them for free ill use them (how many kroot can you have in a unit). What should i do?

Thanx and Merry Christmas.

Well, frankly, yes it is a good deal for your money, but me, I go pure tau, just because I don't like the rugged look of them and tau are swank. If you do get two battallions, that would be well worth the money, as you would have a sizeable force right there. 20 drones, good amount of FW and kroot and 6 suits. You really can't go wrong for that price. Just buy it, as the models as of now are still cool, and I doubt any of the old stuff will change, rather just adding in new stuff.

As you mentioned most of the models included in the battalion box are not going through any major physical changes and the box is a really a fairly good deal as it delivers a solid section of the Tau forces.

I would advise buying one box and work with it for a few days. * A few friendly games should give you an idea as to the feel of the various units before you make any further financial commitment.

I am personally crisis suit heavy and use no Kroot (personal preferance, I acknowledge that they can be quite effective) so play a few games and test to see which direction you would like your army to go, then go spending in that direction. *

Battalion box is a good call. *Buy it, but wait a bit before moving to expand your army. *Make sure you know (in practive) what you intend to buy next.

Merry Christmas to you comrade.

Four less than that. Kroot are packaged strangely, just like guardians. To fill them out its best to buy a sprue of them or something. Or just stick with the 16 that come in a box.

I have 28 kroot and a shaper lying around that i hardly ever use (never use a shaper). they're good to have kicking around just incase you have a few points you haven't used yet and you need some more modles on the board and they aren't bad to include in one of your actual lists either, i usually only use them in games that go over 2000 points though. Thats just because i normally play mech tau and there is no room for 6" per turn units.

I'd use the 12 Kroot you get in the battleforce.

Buy the current Codex. Show you played way back when... a new one is coming out. Be ready.
