Default Rapid fire ranges

with most rapid fire weapons, its 24" for one shot, 12" for two (or if the unit moved). however, for tau, is it 30" range for one shot and 18" for two (18" being half range), or is it still 12" for two shots? kinda new to tau (not 40K though, im not a complete clueless!), so any help with that would be appreciated.

First, 15 is half of 30. And second, I think its still 12 inches.

ToastMater is correct, its 15 but no only 12 inches, kinda sucks the way it was origionally worded but thats different in 4th edition. It does not say half range anymore, it says 12 inches. Even before that it was held to 12 sadly.

Rapid Fire Range is always 12" regardless of the weapons' maximum range. It just so happens that most RF weapons are 24" range, and that RF range is half of that..

It makes sense when you consider that 12" is also the assault range for most units in the game. If the Tau had a weapon that could fire twice at 15" while moving (backwards), it would be all but impossible to actually engage them in hand-to-hand until they reach their own table edge. It is more a question of balance than of logic.

Rapid fire is being able to squeeze the trigger and have a huge increase in accuracy. That said, a single shot from a pulse rifle represents a sustaned burst.

Not quite. Rapid Fire represents hurling lots of shots into a general area. the single shot is representative of a "placed shot", but shooting at 12" is just spray fire.
