Default Devilfish stands

So the little plastic part the attaches the devilfish to the stand broke on me. All my spare ones have. I am tempted to paint and attach the landing legs but does that mean it will count as on the ground and no longer hovering for FoF purposes?

The base doesn't effect the rules entry...

The landing gear and/or flying base are just an aesthetics feature.

For future tanks you get do this. Take something and expand the hole. Sharp scissors are great here. Just dig out a bigger hole. This will let the thicker part of the stand be in the hole. It has kept all my tank stands alive for a very ling time. I only wish I could do this with crisis suits :'(

The stands are just there for modling aspects, it will not affect the rules in any way. If someone tries to tell you other wise, then they are wrong.

I was thinking of having one of my devil fish coming in for a landing with a FW out the side hatch firing a carbine one handed ;D I'll post it on the convertion section when done.

Most people don't even know the landing gear option exists I think the rule was introduced after the codex and models were made anyway.

It wouldn't make much sense for the tank to be landed every single turn just because you modelled it with its landing gear down anyway. The models themselves only represent a split second of action (poses etc ) and don't reflect what the model would do every turn. So the tank could be hopping from spot to spot, landing temporarily to dropp off troops etc.
