Default Tau Tetra

Is the Tau Tetra(Forgeworld) fielded as a fast attack choice? I am thinking about doing it in the fast attack contest. I would really like to know this. ;D

When the Tau Tetra came out there were expiremental rules for them on the forgeworld site stating that they were a fast attack choice. I doubt that would have changed when the taros campaign book came out.

Yep, they are in Imperial Armour 3 (I think they are 2-4 per squad, don't have the book on hand though)

It's a great book, especially if you're looking to use the fun Tau units in your games... or simply learn more about the Tau at war than from any other source - in Epic, BFG and 40K...

The Tetra is indeed a fast attack choice, so it would be vailid to enter into the contest...

Here's to hoping we get it in the new codex, although it's looking grim.

Anybody else think it should just be a jetbike instead of a vehicle?

How many wounds would it have? It has two pilots, both are essential......I think it's just better as a vehicle. Maybe a skimmer or fast skimmer. The glancing only over 6" is enough to compensate for the light armor. And don't fast vehicles only get hit on 6's? Or is that flyers, or both? I haven't fought Ork or DE in a while so I'm a little out of date on Fast Vehicles.

Flyers only for shooting, flyers and skimmers for CC.

While we are on the subject, are markerlights main or defensive weapons?

I would argue main; they have to be aimed, not simply fired madly at the nearest target.

I thought it was based on the strength of the weapon. I'd vote defensive.

Defensive weapons are named that for a reason; they defend the tank against attack.

Heavy Bolters, Burst Cannons, Assault Cannons, Big Shootas, Shuriken Cannons, Splinter Cannons, Heavy Flamer... they all fire a massive amount of shots, or hit a wide area, so accuracy isn't a problem. They are designed to drive back and pin down enemy infantry. If I was charging at a Tetra with a melta-bomb, I would have no fear of a Markerlight gunning me down.

Hence they are not defensive.
