My friend and I were having a discusion on a TAU vs Space Marines and I have become a little discouraged with the tactics of him using drop pods to get near my my forces. Anyone have any ideas on how to keep my forces from geeting slaughtered by terminators?

Yeah. I don't believe that the Terminators can assault right after Deep Striking, though they can indeed shoot. I'd suggest a massive return fire. Or, just make it so he has trouble dropping down....I know that with myh friend (and IG player with a Drop Troop army), uses a Sentinel with Improved Comms to re-roll any failed(or one failed p.turn, I forget) roll of Deep Strike.

Question is, how many Terminators are dropping and what kind? Tau Plasma fire from Crisis teams can rip through Terminators, as can Fusion blasters. If none of that is available, massed firepower will drop them. Keep in mind, Terminators aren't as tough as you think. They only have one wound and T4....sooo a squad of Fire Warriors will be wounding them on 3's, and all they need to do is roll a few ones.

I have heard this a lot, and confirmed it with several GW staff; you CANNOT charge on the turn you disembark from a Drop Pod.

This means you have plenty of time to kill him for using noobish tactics. Do so with vigour.

Depends on what he tries to shoot with it. It will kill firewarriors with ease, is a threath to the tanks, and can destroy a suit in one salvo. However, I thin he won´t have large number of them, and since they are in small squads, you should always remember to take full advantage of "torrent of fire". (though heavy flamers might be desirable targets too.)

Here's a nice little trick. Use Kroot.

Set them up around whatever you think he's going to target or whatever you think is most valueable. Take advantage of the full 2" unit consistency; taking into account a couple dying, a squad of 20 should cover approx. an 8-square-inch area. Also note that deep-striking units cannot come within an inch of enemy models. This should give you a wide-enough girth to keep his termies out of assault range long enough to smoke 'em.

I know it's cheap, but the look on his face is always priceless to me.
