Default Devilfish

I'm thinking of starting a Mech Tau Cadre and I don't know much about the rules concerning the Devilfish.

So can you reload the troops back into the Devilfish once they got out... or r they out for good, thus becoming static troops and making you lose the mobility which is so valuble for a mech tau???

You can reload any troops into a transport... it's just that few other races ever want to do this.

OK, cuz my friends, one who plays Chaos and the other Eldar, said that you couldn't reload once the troops had disembarked

Yeah, that's nonsense. If that were true there would be nothing about "embarking" in the rulebook. Besides that, it's silly. Why would troops ever not get back in their transport if they needed to, and it still worked?

good point. I doubt I will tell them that I can do that and just embark while playing one of them... see his reaction when I tell him and show him the rulebook, after I'v destroyed all of his transports :P

You know your opponents better than we do. There are two things here:

1. He was legitimate in his belief (and hasn't read the rulebook) or
2. He was trying to hose you - hoping you hand't read it.

I like your suggestion - punish him brutally - eiher way I feel he deserves it.

I think he was pretty legit *shrug* I doubt he has a rulebook (too xpensive and heavy as he says).

Nevertheless, I will teach him what comes of his ignorance
MWAHAHAHAHA...cough...haha...

*chuckle*

As fun as that would be, in the spirit of good sportsmanship I'd recommend you point out the error first. Better to think he really didn't know the rule rather than assume he was trying to hose you first.

Cheers!

I guess I'll just have 2 see what type of mood I'm in on the day I play him

Just to clarify things a little tiny bit:
You can't disembark and embark your troops in the same turn.

You can in one turn:
Move the DF and disembark the FW
Disembark the FW and move the DF
Move the DF so it gets near the FW, and then they embark.
Embark the FW and move the DF

Of course I would love to be able to embark, move 12", disembark and rapid fire. That would make the FW a force to be feared! But alas, that is not going to happen...

The real rules are way more detailed, but that is the basic.
Look for page 62 of your rulebook.

You really can't play without a Rulebook and a Codex...
Read yours!
Is your best allied.
