The new Crisis Battlesuits on forgeworld, and other various websites, they have different weapon systems. is it just like the current xv8 where you choose the weapondry or do you buy the different models separately?

some have fixed systems, like a target lock + markerlight or a smart missile system. I don't remember the specifics but you could ask someone with IA3.

Shadowdeth is pretty much on the money...
Crisis suits and their forge world world variations allow you to purchase a weapons fit as you see fit. Certain Forge World Variations will have a specific piece of hardware included, if you choose to purchase that suit variant. I will not go into specfic point cost details to avoid being smited.... ![]() The markerlight XV-84 suit isn't bad and looks very nice - even without the spinal markerlight. Overall a good buy. I don't like the XV-81 SMS suit - currently the rules don't let you move and fire the SMS... (though that may change in the next codex) The heavy suit XV-89 with the 2+ save has it's uses, but loses too much manuverability due to the d6 jet pack. I converted mine into a fairly cool looking Broadside All three of the forge world suits are VERY easy to convert to use rare earth magnets to swap weapons. I purchased a bunch of 3/16 by 1/16 rare earth disk magnets. The arm portion has more than enough room and stability to drill out a deep enough hole to mount one flush within it. The weapons can be modified with a little work - and the rim of the arm can hide any minor issues on the "fit". I wound up snipping off the flat extensions on all the weapons, The Missile pod and the Fusiosn blaster could be drilled as is - - they are almost exactly 3/16 wide. I took the back off the plasma rifle, burst cannon, and flamer - they were slightly harder but all three have "round" sections that the magnet can effectively replace without significant work. The toughest one was the flamer - but since i don't mount many flamers on my crisis stuis - it isn't an issue to me. ;D I also modified my XV-84 commander with a magnet on top of the backpack - where the spine would connect. I can add that at will as well... Dave Gaidasz |

![]() then again - the magnets are pretty darn cheap ... at http://www.wondermagnets.com click"Browse our prducts", then under "Magnets and magnetism" click on "go directly to NdFeB magnet listings HERE" The ones I use alot are number 0007 - they are only 15 cents apiece (american). The entire project used 8 magnets. Even buying 50 of them will work out to be about $7.50 (American). Shipping is pretty cheap from them - and they are fast (less than a week every time i have bought from them). The magnets are also great for mounting weapons on normal crisis suits, putting removable seeker missiles on Devilfish/Hammerheads, and the larger magnets avaialble can be used for mounting alternate arms on dreadnoughts, or sponson mounts on imperial vehicles. If you can afford the forge world kit - you can afford the magnets to make it infinitely more usable... ![]() Dave Gaidasz |

Hmm just to clarify so there aren't any misunderstandings as a result of this thread (or its title)
Forgeworld is part of GW, that produce unofficial resin models, along with their own rules, that may be used with the existing GW range. They often also make comversion kits etc, such as this one. In this case, they have produced three variations of the standard XV8 crisis suit, and a special character, which can be seen in their online catalogue (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog...TTLESUITS.html). The weapon systems are modular, just like the existing XV8 crisis suits, where you can fit whichever weapon you want into the weapon mounts. The kit includes the standard XV8 kit, and the various resin parts to make the whole model, along with weapon options. And also.. the crisis suits aren't really that new, and they are in no way related to the any upcoming models that GW might plan on releasing for the new codex, as far as we know here.
