Question Tranzyn has a tau emblem????

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this or not while playing against necron, but I just picked up a model called "Tranzn the Infinite" and he has a Tau emblem on his belt. is there a fluff reason for this? Has he killed many tau and this is his way of showing it? or is it that he may have been a Tau who was converted after death?

If you go to the GW website and find his model, the description essentially answers your question.

There's also a player based theory that the Tau, given their oddly reminiscent size, bone structure, short lifespan, love of technology, and lack of psychic manifestation, mysterious sudden development, ethereal mind control, etc... are a necron side project intended to... I dunno... do something... fight chaos maybe? This theory hasn't been floated in a while since the necrons became more than just mindless robot zombies... but it's a neat idea.

Thats actually a really cool theory, I've read a tiny bit of the fluff for both and from the necron book sounds like after the necrons fought the "Greater beings" they became mindless shells inside the metal bodies for those who lost their sanity and who's minds weren't strong enough. as the old necrons lived on radioactive planets they had short life spans and constant health problems, which lead them to seek quick technological advances to preserve life. What if the "Old Necrons" were actually the Tau that chose to live of a different planet and thus were actually able to maintain bodies and construct the caste's and the Greater Good? Ooooooohhhh, this is why people like fluff so much!

O JEEZ and what if that is why the Tau and Necron are now Allies of convienience!
