Default Ethereal: Mid range combat/Aun'va Redundancy

ok so I have been having issues determining mid range combat with using the invocation of the elements, as I usually jump between sense of stone(FNP6) or Storm of Fire(1+shot with pulse weapons<1/2RNG), but midrange its far more difficult for me to decide. So I ask the greater good what their opinions are for mid range combat. Also looking at the codex Aun'va seems to be the same, but better than the Ethereal plus he already has 2 guards with him for decent 100pts. So should I even be using the Ethereal and switch to Aun'Va, or stick with him with his 50pts cost?

I don't quite understand the first question. What do you mean by mid-range combat? ?If your fire warriors are at rapid fire range give them Storm of Fire. If they aren't but are already where they need to be give them Sense of Stone. If you need to run and gun for whatever crazy reason give them Zephyrs Grace (I have literally never used this but can see when it might be effective... on the last turn of a game where you need to get on to that objective and need to get that one last enemy off his objective).

As for Aun'Va... Aun'Va currently suffers from not being an independent character. This is extremely grim news if you happen to be a naked old man in a war zone. Ethereals only tend to survive by the thickness of the meat shield they put between themselves and their enemies. That's why it's nice to put them inside a nice big unit of fire warriors or sniper drones in some cover or inside a devilfish.

Well the 1st question is relating to if your within around 19"-25" were its like you are too far to fire, but if the enemy comes in to range on there movement phase you can still use support fire, because I feel like if I use FNP I might have just waisted attacks I could have used for maybe even a possible interceptor that sort of range is what i'm talking about, as for aun'va I guess I must have skipped over the non-independent character thing so yeah that would make sense since he can't join other units :/ ty though

Ah, I see now.
Anything outside of 18" should be safe from charging unless it is a special fast unit, so I'd still go with either Sense of Stone or Zephyrs Grace depending on your needs. If it is a special fast unit, you can either try to escape by moving away and then Zephyrs Gracing to move even further away... or you can dig in and go for the Storm of Fire in preparation for the 'counter attack'. That just requires you to feel out the situation more than a hard and fast rule though.
