depends on the unit. if its a single model like a dreadnought or a greater daemon it targets the model. if its a squad of say, space marines it affects the whole squad depending on the effect. at least thats what i interpret it as. gotta love markerlights.

It targets every model currently in the unit you aimed at. Which means that even a super mixed unit like an Imperial Guard platoon with a commissar, heavy weapons, and an allied space marine chaplain attached to the squad would all be subject to the effect of the markerlight until the end of the shooting phase.

ok another markerlight ruling issue I thought I had right, but now question myself I know for seekers and ignore cover you have to "deplete" the appropriate markerlights, but is it the same for the +1BS and is it removed after a unit fires on the markerlit unit?

ex. x4 markerlights on x5 term squad giving a +4BS and using 3BS(3+4=7BS) x8 Firewarrior squad fires @7BS and 2 terms survive, next attack by Broadside to kill survivors.

Does the Broadside benefit from the 7BS, or does the Firewarrior squad deplete all 7BS that was used that firing[Assuming 7BS was poorly used with the Firewarrior squad]?

Markerlights are spent as a buff for the unit receiving the benefit not as a debuff for the target of the lights; so spending the markerlight tokens to give the fire warriors BS7 would expend all your markerlight tokens on that unit and you would have none left to boost the BS of your broadsides. This is in the same way that only one unit may remove cover from a unit per 2 tokens spent, and only 1 seeker missile may be fired per token spent (this one is the most obvious).
