Question Who shoots the Seeker Missiles?

The rules under "Target Aquired" is quite vague. I assume that my unit of Fire Warriors can use a marker to "call in" a Seeker Missile. But is that missile fired using the BS of the launching unit? or the BS of the Fire Warriors? Or is it an auto-hit?

Or am I completely wrong and is the Seeker Missile launched by the unit carrying it? During that unit's firing phase, thereby designating the target for the rest of that unit's weapons?

Well, the Missile is fired at BS5, with Cover and Line of Sight being irrelevant.

However, a vehicle from which the Seeker is fired, must have it fire at the same target as their other weapons. This implies that the vehicle is firing the Seeker.

This means that a Longstrike Hammerhead or Broadside unit with Puretide Chip Commander, can use Tank Hunters to re-roll the Penetration on the Seeker if it's fired at a vehicle.

Ah, I found the expanded description on page 68. So the Seeker would be fired as part of the equipped-unit's firing phase, and doesn't count against the unit's maximum weapons fired that turn. Unfortunately, unless the unit has line of sight AND is in range, it won't really have a chance to fire any other weapon systems (except possibly Smart Missiles).

Thanks.

Exactly, but still, it's very useful as a backup, just in case.

I don't take them, though. Better to spend 8pts on an Upgrade that lasts the game than a one-shot Krak Missile.

the vehicle can also fire them independantly if they want, with the vehicles BS. this is why the skyray is popular, cause 6 S8 missiles with skyfire

Can only fire all six at full BS if it doesn't move, though.

Due to the specification of seeker missiles being fired at the same target along with all other weapons of a firing vehicle, there is nothing that specifically prohibits Broadsides from firing upon unit A while their seeker missiles are targeted against unit B. However, it would be really nice if this got FAQ'd. There are a lot of points in our codex that need to be resolved.
