Default Ork allies for Tau, Would it be good? What would they bring?

So, I kind of want to start Tyranids or Orks as a more melee capable army since I normaly play Tau and I'v been ponderin and checking info and rumors for them for a few days, And today I thought "If I pick Orks, Why not make them allies to my Tau while I build them into a full army?" So I was curious, What kind of Ork allies would be best for Tau? What would Orks bring to Tau? Would a melee focused Ork ally list work?

The Orks would get pretty much no benefits of synergy with Tau, as they're not considered Friendlies, but Enemies you can't shoot at. Worth a try, but Fluff doesn't maek sense and it won't do anything amazing on the tabletop.

It would be really unfluffy considering that the Empire fought a load of battles against orks! Nevertheless the only thing that I would consider would be a load of MANz with a warboss in a battlewagon. Throw this down an opponents throat while your tau army picks off the rest. If you want a powerful ally with synergy though pick Eldar. They provide extremely mobile scoring units, psyker protection and buffs, and close combat units. This does often result in you being called a cheesemonger though so beware!

Yeah, any Ork allies would effectively be a smaller army playing alongside your Tau. As a result, you'd wanna make sure they do a very good job. Boyz are easily mown down, even as plain cannon fodder, and putting them in a Trukk means you can't fit as many in.

orks would be alright they'll probably get an update before to much longer, cheap models can mean cannon fodder, though the battle wagon idea isnt bad

I'd personally say Kroot do the job of cannon fodder better for not a much more.

But also lose the buff in cover, infiltrate, outflank and don't get a sniper option. Tbh I think green tide is pretty useless without spamming big Meks with KFFs. It definitely won't work as an isolated detachment.

Orks currently aren't the strongest army, and that's with them operating all as one.

Orks work best in numbers, which is why a small detachment won't do much more than clog your enemy up for a turn or two. Kroot do it better, they can Infiltrate into their face, hide in a Forest, snipe at some enemy heavy weapons, then GtG for a 2+ in Forests.

Even if you have no forests, they're still great for Going to Ground. Infiltrate onto an Objective and roll Scatterfield, and you're laughing.
