Default Recommendations for Army Expansion

Okay so, the list is growing rather well. Happened to find a few big battlesuit models on the cheap and threw some more money at it. As of now it feels like I'm closing in on feeling some half decent 1500 pt lists, and not too terribly far from having everything I'd need to field any list I have. Seems like the units I need that I don't have are things to add instead of substitute with in larger armies. As of now I have no intention to buy units from another codex

This is what I've got thus far:

1 Ethereal
2 Crisis Commanders (regular crisis stand-ins)

36 Firewarriors
3 Devilfish (with turrets to convert 1 to a skyray, and 2 to hammerheads)

3 Crisis Suits
2 Riptides

1 Piranha

2 Hammerheads
1 Sniper Team (3 marksman, 7 sniper drones)
1 Broadside Suit

So what should I go for next? I have a few ideas already, depending on which everyone thinks would get most used.

2 more broadsides to finish out the team
3 more crisis suits so I can field more supplement oriented lists
another piranha
a flier of some kind (barracuda?)
Tetras
Pathfinders?

I'm open to suggestions.

I'd definitely say Pathfinders, Piranhas and Crisis Suits. IMO the Codex fliers are weak, and you wanna be careful with Forge World purchases, in case of tournaments out snooty opponents.

depending on your budget, I have to follow Coffeegrunt on the pathfinders - while by themselves not the strongest unit in the codex, they allow the rest to do their jobs so much better (Always fun to ignore cover on a well hidden unit with better then average BS)

next depends on wat you like to field and the local meta... single broadside, piranha or sniperteam (snipers could be used as alternate markerlight scource) are usualy not gonna cut it

As for flyers... our codex one... sigh... if you go for one anyway do it as a bomber - funny how our bomber is a better fighter then the fighter
FW baracuda - think the only book that has latest rules for it is IA3 2nd eddition, wich will considerable add to the price for the flyer - and not everyone will agree on using FW models unless you proxi them for a existing GW model (like the FW broadsides under our previous codex )

just my 2c

I happened to pick up the single broadside because I found it for a great price. It was one of the new models, someone hadn't even assembled it and was selling it for much less than it costs to buy new.

Filling out that team was a priority because a three suit broadside team is in alot of my lists. One suit generally isn't terribly useful. Same with the piranha, I'd like to get at least two before I start using them often. That said, I know I'll need more crisis suits too, and pathfinders at all levels.

Outside of tournament play, is it generally acceptable to play using a supplement pdf? The friends I game with use pdfs, but most people who play around here have all the books they use.

From the point of view of bringing all the things you currently have up to playable levels, you need to fill out your broadside squad, and at least another piranha (3 total would probably be better).
After that you're going to need to start thinking about support options which is a personal choice (though I prefer drones with a commander and my sniper team).

Legally, yeah it's fine. In my meta it's okay to use the Supplement. The Farsight one is pretty simple to pick up, just has a few special rules, really. If you get the spare cash, it's rumoured to be getting a hardback copy this month. I know I'm waiting on buying that, though I've had a...sneak peek beforehand, just to make sure it's worth buying. (Fluff is awesome.)

You won't be able to play at a GW unless you have a legitimate copy of the supplement, but with friends a PDF should be fine. I can't wait for the hardcopy though, since the fluff is really well written. It's enough information to be a legitimate black library book and I'd love to own it because it's something I actually want to support. Until then though, I've got a stolen PDF copy for list writing purposes.

Well, considering that getting broadsides is the most expensive option, I'll probably go with the piranhas or a crisis team. Might go with the crisis suits first just because the supplement is usable. I have quite a few lists with farsight / tau allies, and being able to field two teams of 3 suits would be nice.

You definitely want more piranhas. I only have one myself and plan to get more before I even get my first Riptide.

If youre not running Enclaves, Id recommend Shadowsun.
