Default Kroot Qs

Q1: In the codex, Kroot armed with rifle count as having two single hand weapons, meaning the 1 under Attack in their table is actually a 2. Now, the Shaper has 3 attacks as base specified in the table. Armed with a Kroot rifle as described, it should be 4. Is this correctly interpreted?

Q2: Is it possible to have 2 Krootox riders as a single troop choice, or does the "10-20 Kroot" - as specified for how large the squad can be - apply to some kind of minimum? Meaning, do I have to have 10 Kroots in the team always?

Thanks

A1. What ever the codex list for attacks is the amount of attacks they get.

A2. You have to take Kroot choice min or max in order to take other kroot choices. Such as the hounds, Krootox and shaper. I don't have the codex with me but I forget how many of each you can take. Should say in the Codex under Kroot choice. Or download demo of army builder and check how many they let you take.

The kroot rifle does count as 2 cc weapons, so all kroot holding one get +1 attack as per normal so yes, the shaper would get 4 attacks in cc

My thought exactly. Thanks.
Funny that one has to read the details in the weapons description for that. Why not simply write it in the table...?

the shaper can get different weapons...
and to confirm, you would need to get 10-20 kroot, and then you can get the 0-2 krooterx... i think i got the numbers wrong, but you understand, right?

Yep. I got back to the section and I see it's quite clear on the "10-..." part.

ONE) yes

TWO) you must have the 10 kroot before you can take anything else.

The shaper doesn't get the 1+ attack from the kroot rifle if you give him a pulse rifle.

Ergo, the Shaper pretty much kicks ass for 28 points. The only drawback is the lousy save, but you can't get it all.

.... Not really. He's only T3 and I3, so he could still disappear pretty quickly before he can bring his attacks to bear (attacks which are only normal cc mind you). And that's only if he survives long enough to get into combat, which is made difficult by the aforementioned shitty save. Kroot as they are in 4E are only useful to tie up units then die (unless it's orks or nids, in which case they can win). Therefore spending 28 points on one model that is only slightly better than the rest is a huge misallocation (more than shas'ui).

Kor'vre, we are being overrun by the enemy's super heavy armor and need localized fire support. You must maneuver into close orbit and prepare to release the XV102...

That's correct, we need the Exigency.

Perhaps, but once my Kroot assaulted a pack of IG. Last round my Shaper was left with all wounds, his captain with 1w and 2 guards with 1w each. The captain and his men kills my Shaper but he was allowed to strike back due to same I. He scores wounds on all three hits which they don't save, and they end up killing each other off cleanly

After that, I always bring a Shaper.
