Default Best Single Infantry Model - Tiered Contest [RULES]

This month we're testing something new. Some members have suggested that we can make the contests better for everyone if we make it easier for those of us who don't have a bionic eye and a master-crafted paintbrush to get some recognition for their efforts.

What we're going to do is split up the entries into two categories: Novice and Master. Each category will be voted on separately, and each will receive 1st, 2nd, 3rd placements. We'll probably adjust the prizes slightly to make sure the Master category gets a slightly higher reward.

The entries will be placed into the two categories by a panel consisting of a number of impartial moderators.

As well as the Tiered addition, we're also going to be putting a new contest length of two months on trial. If this works out well, we might extend some of the more interesting or complex contests to this longer time when we work out the calendar for next year.

Oh, and, this is a trial run, so anything you like, dislike or think could be improved upon, let us know!

Anyway, on to the rules of the contest.

Dates:
  • Entries can be submitted via a PM to Dra'Tuisich-Novae from November 1[sup]st[/sup] until December 14th[sup]th[/sup].
  • Entries will be split into categories between December 15[sup]th[/sup] and December 22[sup]nd[/sup]
  • Voting will take place between December 23[sup]rd[/sup] and December 30[sup]th[/sup].
  • Winners will be announced on the 31[sup]st[/sup] of December.

Rules:

This competition is open for a single infantry model from any Warhammer 40k race. That means no vehicles, no bikers, cavalry, jetbikes, walkers, monstrous creatures or anything which is 'Counts-as' one of these. It can be taken from any unit from any FOC category.
As per usual, no forgeworld models allowed. Conversions are allowed.
EDIT - Jump Infantry is not allowed. The model must be on a 25mm base

  • Up to three pictures of your entry may be submitted.
  • The piece may not have been entered in a previous contest.
  • All models must be fully painted.
  • Photos of your entry may not exceed 800x600 pixels.

How or, rather, whom will decide what everyone's category will be?

Honor system? Vote?

(I'm not entering, I'm just curious)

That's what I get for skimming. :P

I'm, not entering because I don't really paint. After I'm done finalizing my scheme and technique I might put it on the web, but until then my painting has always been a sore spot for me in spite of my involvement with the other facets of the hobby. :P
I don't feel good enough about my work to put it out yet. (I'm somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to my army and paint is one of those things that pisses me off because it doesn't do what I want it to).

Well, I'd personally put myself in novice, but I can put out some okay stuff. Examples from the last couple of contests: Broadside team from Heavy Support contest, Red/white devilfish from Transport, and Deathwing Banner bearer from open comp a couple months ago. The thing that I did kind of fancy is the Deathwing banner, but that was accomplished with a Sharpie ink pen to get the details. Any suggestions on where I should stand? PMs to me( the individual) will keep this thread from getting bogged down with people suggesting their status.

This should give me an excuse to finish one of the models I was working on for a past contest.

Back to Mordechai's question... how do you determine who's novice and who's master? Quality of the work they send in, honor system, vote, etc

If that's always been there, then I apologize. In any case thanks for clearing it up!
