We will discuss arrangements of prizes after the competition; it may be possible to get vouchers for other stockists instead of GW if the recipient wishes.

The top three entrants will also receive victory seals.

Rules:
Arguably the most prestigious competition run annually next to the Tau Online Awards, the Tau Online Grand Story Story (TOGSS) Competition runs through to August.

It is a writing competition; submissions must set in the Warhammer 40,000 or Warhammer Fantasy universe, and from 3,000 to 10,000 words in length. Formatting tags do not count towards this limit.

No images (including text-art and the like) may be included in the story.

Quick question, what if I am to continue a story that I started ages ago, and posted the first 906 words on the old Umbra codex thread? Can I still enter it, using that as a prologue of sorts?

On a related question to this, can the entered story be a prologue to a planned larger story?

Also, can stories be chapters or must they be one-shots? And I'm sure it's a yes, but are we only allowed a single entry?

To clarify a few points:
-It's fine if you've written all or part of the story already.
-It's fine if you've posted it somewhere on this forum or any other forums.
-It's not allowed if you've submitted any part of it in an official contest on TO before
-It's fine if you've submitted in into a competition on any other forum

You're only allowed one entry. This can be a stand-alone thing or part of a greater work as you wish, but remember that people reading it will be reading it as a story in itself, so if it doesn't really make sense on it's own, then it's probably going to lose marks. It's probably best if you assume that the people reading it have not read anything you have written before and are not going to read anything you intend to write in the future.

I'd presume that that is perfectly fine, as long as it, obviously, pertains to the story. Many stories have song, poems, etc. that tie into the story.
