Default Create a Character Competition [VOTING]

Wow, a staggering 22 entries for this character competition, too many more and I'd have run out of letter in the alphabet! A fantastic effort by everyone who took part.

Please vote as to which character you think is the best in terms of -

Creativity
Originality
Feasability
Balance

To keep a bit more suspense, if you could not reveal who you voted for until the results are announced it would be most appreciated!

Cheers and good luck to all,

Walker the Resolute
Born in a hive, at the age of 20 his psychic powers were activated as he attacked a group of gangers attempting to summon a daemon. He was then hunted by Proctor Corneilius, who believed that he was a witch. After a small scuffle, he was captured and brought into holding. While he was imprisoned, he had a vision of an angel who beckoned to him to come to the Underhive and reclaim the temple of the Emperor; he managed to escape with his newfound powers, and made his way to the Underhive. He recruited a young bounty hunter named Yosun and made his way to the temple with him in tow. After finding the temple, he killed the gangers who were in the process of looting it. He was attacked by a daemon, but the Emperor drove it from his temple; and in this moment he was given a quest by the angel. His quest is now to find the other members of his team for the purpose that he will be given. He has managed to recruit another ganger named Constantine, but he is still attempting to find his hunter; Krystal Venificus- the number 5 hunter in the hive. Walker is extremely psychic- he is considered to be a grade Alpha Primus. How exactly, he has managed to remain undetected by the daemons of the warp and the Inquisition is something of a miracle. It seems much more likely that either side has found Walker and he simply does not know about it. His future, though, is much more uncertain than his present.

Gear: 1 way glass helmet, Carapace armor, Masterwork Bolt Pistol, Force Weapon: Quarterstaff.
Special Abilites: Face of Fear, Why won't he die?, Oh God-Emperor no, Psyker.
Face of Fear: Walker's face has become the focal point of all evil in the world that he is on; should anyone look at it, they will die instantly. During Combat, Walker may trade all attacks to make a single S10 (SD in Apoc) AP2 I1 attack against any non-vehicle unit. This ability does not work against other psykers.

Why won't he die?: Walker has been gifted with an almost impossible amount of regeneration that is based on his psychic ability. At the beginning at each turn, Walker may attempt to regenrate each wound on a +5. If Walker loses all wounds, put the model on its side. He may return to play on a +6 with 1 wound. This effect fails if within any area that would negate psychic effects.

Oh God-Emperor no: If Walker is on the battlefield, all psychic units can tell it- his presence is huge and he can't control it. All Daemons and Psykers get +1A against him.

Psyker: Walker may buy one the following abilites: Storm of the Emperor's Wrath @ 30pts, Shield of the Emperor's Guidance @40pts
Shield of the Emperor's Guidance gives the model a +4INV save. It may be used at the beginning of each phase.

Rangarok: Master of the skies

The entity known as Ragnorak has plagued the Imperium sinse as early as M33. Once a mortal, he was possibly the greatest pilot ever produced by Valkyre, a world now infamous for her pilots.
During a particularly fierce warp-storm, a rebellion was instigated by a cult called the "Spear of Odin". With Ragnarok at the lead, they brough the world of Valkyre to its knees, and only by pure luck did the Valkrian 42nd, the Valkyries (now an elite squadron) manage to defeat Ragnarok and his men, and end the rebellion.
However, Ragnarok would not die so easily. His ship managed to enter low orbit, where it was collected by a waiting cargo ship. Four such vessels vanished into the Warp Storm, and all believed them lost. This was not the case.

In 3078334M35, the remote outpost of Gilber Tertius came under attack from a blood-red Lightning, confirmed post-conflict as Ragnarok. Achieving near instant air supremacy, the world suffered horrendously at his hands until the Storm Giants Space Marine Chapter managed to restore order. Ragnarok was believed to have been shot down in the fight, but a blood-red Thunderbolt fled from a nearby Naval aerodrome a few hours later. For three subsequent attacks, Ragnarok flew a Thunderbolt, until this too was shot down at the start of the Ud'shal insurrection. Halfway through the conflict, a Lightning was reported missing from the Reserve Fuelling Station on the southern front, and Ragnarok was spotted in the air again minutes later.

His latest encounter was with the 18th Kassar, who located and killed the pilot after he successfully made a forced landing in the forests of Bursol. The trooper responsible was later reported missing in action, but the fighter was put into storage for examination on Kassar. Two days after the 18th arrived, they rebelled along with several other regiments, and the skies of Kassar were subjected to his tyranny once more.

Ordo Malleus operatives are eager to learn how Ragnarok can continue to cheat death, but some believe that he is capable of corrupting aircraft (indeed, vid-logs show he is capable of Psychic manipulation of machinery). Not only that, but his flyer is capable of perverting the minds, bodies and even souls of those nearby, meaning that anyone who climbs into the craft will become The Pilot once again. No doubt this happened to the Kassarian who found him, who then corrupted his superior officers and fellow soldiers. Rumours of teleportation are also common.

Whatever the truth, it is unquestioned that Ragnarok is one of the most dangerous Heretics in the galaxy, and his arrival in a system should be treated with the most extreme seriousness.

Ragnarok:
Any LaTD army of 1,500pts or more may be led by Ragnarok. If he is taken, then the army cannot include Chaos Marines of any kind (he hates them with a passion!).
Cost Ws Bs S T W I A Ld Sv
Ragnarok 80 5 5 3 3 3 5 3 10 5+
Wargear: Twin Autopistols.
Options: May be mounted in a Lightning at +160pts, or a Thunderbolt at +195pts. Both are Bs 5, and have the Decals upgrade (his Blood-red paint scheme) and an Ejector Seat. Note the Ejector Seat always succeeds in getting Ragnarok out of the flyer.
SPECIAL RULES:
Twinshot: Ragnarok may fire both his pistols in the same shooting phase.
Rebirth: If not mounted in a Flyer, Ragnarok can respawn himself, and return to fight again (we assume he has a stock of slaves off-field to corrupt as needed). Whenever he is killed, remove him from the board. At the start of the next Chaos turn, roll a D6. On a roll of 4+, Ragnarok returns. If you fail, try again next turn, adding +1 for each subsequent turn (so if you fail the first two attempts, you need a 2+ for him to arrive). A roll of 1 always fails.
Note that Ragnarok cannot do this if his Flyer is shot down (though we can assume it lands off the field, corrupts a new pilot, then flees the battle). In this case, remove him as a normal casualty.
If Victory Points are used, the respawned Ragnarok is worth no additional Victory Points, though they are earned the first time you kill him. The VPs for the Flyer are earned only if Ragnarok is killed.

PRINCE HISTAN

“I am a price, I am empowered to deliver justice to wherever I see it lacking, I am empowered to punish cowardice. I am granted the gift of total authority to judge, in the name of the Emperor you will follow me to your dying breath.”

After the assassination of Histan’s father he was only two and the Vicc’or rebellion broke out upon all the hive cities across pegite. Those who stayed loyal to their beloved once king were slaughtered and massacred. The rebellion took power over many of the hive cities, and Pegite seemed to be entering an endless war. By the 13th year both sides were shattered and exhausted, having used all their resource and strength during the many catastrophic battles. As both sides lost vision of the war the sight of the aftermath was horrific. The surface of pegite was scarred and mutilated by the constant affect of vexer bombs dropped all over the planets face. The now grown Prince seized power over the last rebel forces and declared the war over in 987.M41. All of pegite was destroyed and only one hive city remained intact, the home and birth place of Prince Histan.

After the war they had more pressing matters as the pollution and waste increased their jungles into liveliness, all the pollution exposed to the jungles fertile soil induced all the poisons. The toxic jungles now started to spread all across the surface of pegite with no way of halting its advance without mass destruction. By the end Pegite was left standing but only on the brink of annihilation and one city left to call home.

Chapter Master Amargo, last of the Malefactors

Little or nothing is now known of the former Malefactors chapter, save that their colour scheme incorporated mostly orange, their emblem was a blazing skull, and they were a Second Founding chapter, possibly of Ultramarine descent. But without a doubt the Chapter's most illustrious member was its former Chapter Master, the legendary Amargo.

Amargo and two hundred marines separated from the rest of the chapter for a while in order to assist in a campaign to reclaim an Imperial system lost to Chaos. It was then that Chaplain Bello, the Master of Sanctity and Amargo's most trusted advisor, fell to the lure of Chaos. He spread the taint to the rest of the Chapter, but they kept their true alignment a secret until Amargo returned. When Amargo and the loyal marines finally made landfall at the Chapter's Fortress Monastery, Amargo stepped out of his landing craft and rushed forward to embrace Bello. But even as he did so, the traitorous Chaplain struck him across his head with his Crozius, concussing him and leaving him unconscious and bleeding profusely. Thinking him dead, Bello ordered his fellow tratiors to fire upon the loyal marines, and after a brief and bloody battle, the last of the loyal Malefactors were slain. Bello and his acolytes retreated to the Warp with the Chapter's fleet.

Amargo awoke much later, lying in a pool of his own blood and staring into the face of an Inquisitor who had been dispatched to the world to investigate the disturbance. Amargo was rushed to a Medicae temple, where the majority of his head was replaced with bionic parts and his life saved. He was now effectively an outcast, the last of his Chapter. Issuing a mighty scream of rage, he vowed to personally hunt down and kill all of his traitorous former brothers. He spent his life drifting between the Imperium's forces, fighting in the name of the Emperor as an example of true devotion, and whenever a Malefactor insurgence occurred he would always rush to the scene to smite down the remnants of his Chapter. He eventually found and killed Bello, and took his Crozius as a prize. For many years, he would be a thorn in the side of his old Chapter and a mighty champion of the Imperium.

Special Character: Chapter Master Amargo is a special character. He may be used in any Imperial army of at least 1,500 points as a HQ choice. You may not select any additional items from the Armoury.

Equipment: enhanced combi-plasma gun, master-crafted Crozius Arcanum, purity seals, terminator armour (extra attack included in profile), bionics.

Special Rules

Independant Character: Amargo is an Independant Character

Inspiring figure: Amargo was a living legend, a physical embodiment of honour, faith and duty. As such, he and any unit he joins is Fearless, and any units withing 12" of him may re-roll failed Morale tests.

Enhanced combi-plasma gun: As a Chapter Master, Amargo was gifted with this unique and powerful weapon by the Mars artificers. It featured a little-understood plasma compression system that allowed for increased ammunition storge. It is a normal combi-plasma gun, but with the ability to fire it's plasma gun for two turns, instead of the usual one.

Brain damage: The grave blow Bello dealt to Amargo's head with his Crozius left Amargo with permanent brain damage, which occasionally affected him when in combat. After every turn that Amargo makes a CC attack, role a die. The results affect him in the next turn for that turn only.

1-3: No effect - Amargo continues to fight in as sane a manner as normal. If fighting Chaos, a No effect result must be re-rolled.
4: Fury - Amargo is filled with anger at his betrayal by his Chapter, and fights with all the more furiously because of it. He recieves +1 attack, but looses 1 initiative.
5: Flip out: Amargo looses it completely. He recieves +1 attack, and MUST charge the nearest enemy unit, using the Fleet special rule (he doesn't CARE that he's in Terminator Armour, he wants to kill something!). If it is not in charging range, he simply moves towards it.
6: Agony: Amargo's head burns in unimaginable pain, near blinding him temporarily and seriously weakening him. He looses 1 wound, BS and WS and is reduced to initiative 1.

Elvanesh, the Forgotten One

Many years ago, Elvanesh's family abandoned their homeworld Ryiel as it was consumed by She Who Thirsts. They were among the settlers of Iybaesil, and lived there for many years.
Elvanesh was a devout follower of Morai-Heg, and she visted him in a dream on him fiftieth birthday, telling him to enter the webway and find Ryiel again. He, his brother Helios and a band of other Eldar set out to find Ryiel.
They went of into the webway, and were missing for two hundred years. People forgot about him, and considered him just another arrogant young child who though he could rebuild the Eldar, only to die in the Crone Worlds. They were wrong.
One day, at the height of a warp strom, Elvanesh reappeared, alone, his mind broken and his companions gone. He carried in his arms a huge spear, which glittered with a hundered tiny gems. It was the Spear of Ryiel, an ancient weapon which would eventually corrupt its owner. They shunned Elvanesh, casting him out into space.
Elvanesh traveled the galaxy, seeking friends that would not shun him because of the Spear. He came across a band of Ourcast Eldar, called the Forgetten. They took him in, and he soon showed his power. He became their leader, and now they ply the webway, hunting the Eldar who shunned them. They have no gods, no demons. They have only a hatred. A hatred of their own people.

Independant Character, Fleet of Foot

Fearless: Elvanesh no longer feels loss or fear, only a deep hatred.

Betrayed: Elvanesh will stop at nothing to get revenge upon the Eldar. He has the Feel No Pain and Prefered Enemy (Eldar) rules.

Spear of Ryiel: The Spear is an ancient weapon, and Slaanesh could not destroy it. So instead he placed a curse upon it, that it would corrupt its weilder. The spear gives Elvanesh +2 Strength, and give him D6 attacks on the charge instead of one. However, it causes him to do horrific things to his enemies. If Elvanesh or a sqaud he is in gets a 'Massacre' result in close combat, they will not consoidate as Elvanesh stops to befoul his enemies and tear their bodies to pieces.

Any Ork army that contains over 1500 points may also include Warboss Ziggy Nesta da Smoka and Da Melody Makaz. He must be use as described below and may not make any additional selections from the armory. Ziggy da Smoka and Da Melody Makaz occupy a Elites Choice on the Force Organization Chart. In addition, you may only use Ziggy if your opponent agrees to the use of Special Characters.

Wargear: Choppa, burna (‘ow else iz he gonna light up hiz joint?), ‘evay armor, drugs, and dreads.

SPECIAL RULES

Drugs: Ziggy and the Melody Makaz always has a stash of weed on them at all times. They can choose to light up at any time during the battle and when they do, the following occurs:
  • The model is at –1 BS. Whoa! I iz seein' fingz!
  • The model is at +1 WS. Don't make mez mad!
  • The model can ignore the first unsaved wound taken in the shooting phase as long as it does not cause instant death. Huh? Did I get shot! I don't feel nothin'!

Dreads Count as Big Horns (see Codex: Orks) and also give him an extra attack in close combat (‘cause beads can ‘urt!)

Wez iz on Tour!: Because of the tight agenda that Ziggy and da Melody Makaz have, touring around the clans, they often will be late to a fight. Role a single D6 before the battle begins. If the result is higher than 1, they make it and arrive for the fight right at the nick of time. If a one is rolled, role another D6 and compare it to the chart below.

1 Oh No! Da boss has just been notified that Ziggy is preforming in a far away galaxy and will not be able to attend. Ziggy and da Melody Makaz count as being destroyed when calculating victory points
2 Hez not gonna be 'ere for a while! Ziggy and da Melody Makaz will arrive at the beginning of turn 5*.
3 Hez commin'! Ziggy and da Melody Makaz will arrive at the beginning of turn 4*
4 Hez almost 'ere! Ziggy and da Melody Makaz will arrive at the beginning of turn 3*
5 Itz only gonna be a few more minutes! Ziggy and da Melody Makaz are almost to the battle and will arrive at the beginning of turn 2*
6 Youz iz cuttin it real close, Ziggy! Ziggy and da Melody Makaz arrive just before the battle begins and sets up with the rest of the army.

*When Ziggy and da Melody Makaz are late, they always arrive via drop podz. They may deploy as if Deep Striking.

Da Melody Makaz Ziggys Bodyguard/ Band Members

Cost: 15 Points Per Model (Ziggy can select up to ten Melody Makaz to be his bodyguard)

Da Melody Makaz count as regular burna boyz (see Codex: Orks) with the following upgrades.

Musical Weapons: Because of the realitivly peaceful nature of the Rastafarians (cause all dey care 'bout is da joint!), some of the Melody Makaz will opt to use instruments instead of weapons. In addition to having burnas, one model in the squad may select a guitar (counts as Doom Siren) at +5 points, a Base Guitar (counts as Sonic Blaster) a +8 points, or a Drum Set (counts as Blastmaster) at +20 points.

After dat show, I wuz cravin’ some weed and smoked a bowl full. And den I got da munchiez for sum kooked squig. Dat wuz good.

In a previous life, Nicole 2634 was a lady of “negotiable affection” on the world of Hekate II. She always looked down on her standing, believing herself a martyr of the Imperial system. Gradually, she, her “sisters” and other malcontents from the city rallied together in a ferocious denunciation of Imperial rule and the Emperor who, deep on the edge of Imperial space, seemed only too far away.

This unrest soon billowed up into massed riots in the streets, and soldiers from a neighbouring system were required to be brought in to quell the uprising. Midway through the campaign, however, the leader of the cause desperately sought a cathedral to confess the error of her ways and beg forgiveness, and to be used for a better purpose. Miraculously, the Cardinal agreed and she was prepared for installation into a Penitent Engine. Without their figurehead, the rebels were easily divided and conquered.

It should have ended there, but the Engine driven by the newly re-christened Nicole 2634 simply refused to allow its “pilot” to die. The baroque angel of death tore through the enemies of the Ecclesiarchy with wanton ease, and as the body count raised there were whispers of the machine having gained the Emperor’s favour once more.

Eventually, Nicole 2634 will die and her Engine will receive a new pilot, most likely one with less divine providence. Until then, this war machine is undoubtedly blessed.

A Witch Hunters force of 1,500pts or more may include Nicole 2634 if there is a Priest in the army. She is a Heavy Support choice.
Type: Walker, Open Topped
Weapons: Two Dreadnough close combat weapons. Nicole 2634 does not gain a bonus for being armed with an additional close combat weapon. Each arm is fitted with a single flamer which may fire as a heavy flamer or two single flamers at the discretion of the player. The first Weapon Destroyed result reduces the Engine’s attacks by 2, and allows the Engine to only fire a single flamer. The second Weapon Destroyed result reduces the Attacks by a further 1 (to a minimum of 1) and reduces the model’s strength to 5, in addition to destroying the flamer.
Note: Nicole 2634’s Engine has reinforced rear armour, added after her survivability and the extent of her damage potential was noted.

SPECIAL RULES
Rampage: Nicole 2634 ignores any Crew Shaken and Crew Stunned results on the Vehicle Damage tables.
Holy Rage: Nicole 2634 is subject to the Holy Rage rule found on page 24 of the Witch Hunters codex.
Battle Frenzy: Nicole 2634 must always fire her weapons if able to do so, and must always attempt to cover as many targets as possible. Once in base-to-base contact, she rolls at the beginning of every Assault phase it is in combat to determine its Attacks characteristic. The +1 Attack for charging is in addition to this.
There Is A Time To Die And To Attain Forgiveness, But That Time Is Not Now: Nicole 2634 has a 4+ save against any attack. This save may not be bypassed for any reason.
Battle Frenzy II: Nicole 2634’s Engine always seems to plough onward, fuelled by her own fervour and possibly the Emperor’s own hand. Any results of “Immobilised” on the Vehicle Damage tables are ignored. In addition to this, on the turn she charges she will never strike later than simultaneously with her opponent.

Default Re: Create a Character Competition [VOTING]

Entry I -
Gue'vesa'El Vior'la Ryzen Xin'yrr
(IG based)

A 4th generation Gue'vesa, Ryzen Xin'yrr hails from a Vior'la colonized world on the eastern fringe of the Damocles Gulf. Though a descendant of abandoned Imperium forces of the Damocles Crusade, Ryzen is as dedicated to the Greater Good as any other member of the Tau Empire. He joined the Gue’vesa garrison at 17 as a combat engineer.
Not long afterward a small Ork craft made planet-fall after evading in-system Tau vessels. Fire Caste were dispatched quickly and managed to beat back the assault, but in an Ork ambush of a Shas HQ facility, Ryzen threw himself between a choppa and an unarmored Shas'O - resulting in losing his right eye and a choppa caught in his ribcage.
Saved by medics, Ryzen’s damage was replaced with bionics at request of the Shas'O. With the Orks eradicated and Ryzen recovered, he was allowed to accompany the Shas'O to the Vior'la home world were he was promoted to Gue'vesa'ui and instructed in more advanced principles of Tau battle tactics.
After training, Ryzen was assigned to Gue'vesa forces attached to Shas combating Orks and Tyrannids on the Eastern side of the Empire. Ryzen proved true leading mortar/anti-tank squads, as well as acting as bait with Kroot on occasions that allowed for the decimation of significant amounts of the enemy. For numerous courageous actions, he was promoted to Gue'vesa'vre and posted to the Western fringe of the Empire, and put in command of Gue'vesa platoons attached to Shas Cadres. Here Ryzen managed to procure a stormbolter and old Storm Trooper armor from a Water Caste merchant, which with his signature sword made him stand out amongst other Gue'vesa.
Pushing 40, Ryzen continued to prove his superb combat and leadership abilities by protecting important Tau installations in the sector. While facing a Genestealer Cult on Tash IX, an encounter with the wrong end of Genestealer claws rent much of his armor - only Ryzen's bionics kept him alive to see the cult destroyed. For leading the defense of Aurin VI, managing to hold off a Dark Eldar raid long enough for Shas Cadres to arrive, Ryzen was promoted again to Gue'vesa'El. Currently he is sent to Gue'vesa units at key defensive locations in the Western area of the Tau Empire.

Wargear: Stormbolter, Bionics, "GX-12" Carapace armor, Refractor Field, "Measure of Death" Power Sword, Surveyor, Targeter, Trademark Item (Power Sword), metabombs

Special Rules:
Bionics: Ryzen's right eye and shoulder were severly damaged defending a Shas'O. His new eye greatly improved accuracy with ranged weaponry. Incorporated into the Tau-made replacement parts are anti-trauma devices to keep Ryzen alive should he recieve greivous injury again. If wounded, Ryzen is subject to the Feel no Pain special rule. When Ryzen loses his last wound, they function as normal bionics.

"GX-12" Carapace Armor: Upon promotion to Gue'El, Ryzen had his normal carapace armor upgraded to perform more similarly to Shas armor. Because of its capabilities and completely enclosed helmet, the Gue'vesa under Ryzen's command quickly dubbed it the "GX-12" as a light-hearted joke, but the name stuck despite it not actually being a battle-suit. Incorporating a more sophisticated communications system, tactical information displays, mountings for additional special equipment, and the abilitity to interface with his own bionics. Built-in tactical systems include a Targeter and Surveyor. Special equipment as follows:
Refractor Field: A crisis suit shield generator salvaged by one of Ryzens engineers.
The extensive damage could not be fully repaired resulting in a lower-powered field.
This grants Ryzen a 5+ invulnerable save (included above).
Master Vox: The improved communication equipment allows Ryzen to act as a Master-Vox Caster.

"Measure of Death" Power Sword: While assigned to clear rubble during one of his early assignments as a combat engineer, Ryzen unearthed this weapon with a demolition charge. Fortunately, it struck the ground two meters to his left rather than in his chest. Made from an incredibly strong, light-weight metal Ryzen could not identify, the sword is exactly 1.25 meters in total length, 3 cm wide, and 1 cm thick. It is shaped as a straight rectangle with neither sharp edges nor point. The "blade", being exactly one meter, is marked with lines every 5 cm for its entire length - making it look like a large ruler or measuring device. From the rest of the remains he uncovered, Ryzen was able to determine that it was of Eldar origin, but not its age. Luckily it still had a working power source, as it was thanks to this weapon that Ryzen was able to successfully defend his Shas'O. He was permitted to keep it, and the "Measure of Death" has been his companion ever since (with a couple of power source adaptions), thus becoming Ryzen's Trademark weapon.

Set the Charges!: Ryzen spent a great deal of his initial career as a demolitions man and carries an affinity for finding the correct place to place charges for maximum effect. Ryzen and his command squad add +1 to the result of a roll to hit a vehicle (or building/stationary/non-infantry objective) with meltabombs.

Stubborn: Because of his deep belief in the Tau'Va and his combat experience, Ryzen is a capable and determined soldier. Ryzen conferes this attribute to units in line of sight within 18".

Independent Character: When not accompanied by his staff (see below), Ryzen follows the rules for Independent Characters.

Command Staff:
Ryzen is accompanied by 4 Gue'vesa'ui Grenadiers (Storm Troopers without the option to Deep Strike or Infiltrate). They are armed with hellguns, targeters, frag & krak grenades, and meltabombs. Their cost is included above.
