Default Best Robotic/AI Construction [RULES]

Best Robotic/AI Construction

Dates -

Date for Entries: 1st November - 21st November
Voting: 22nd 29th November
Winner Announced: 30th November

Rules -

This is the chance to go completely to town. You can enter a single model that is controlled by Artificial Intelligence or that is completely robotic. So this means the model should have no flesh of any kind. For example you can enter any kind of Tau drone. You can also create yourself a robotic construct for any of the 40k races.
This is a very open competition because we allow conversions.
Up to three images may be submitted
The model must be your own work
The model cannot have been entered into any previous Tau Online competitions
You can submit your entry to any competition committee member by BST1200 on the competition deadline date by PM.

Prizes -

The top three finishers in the competition will get an official TO Seal to put in your signature, in addition they will get the standard competition points.

1st Place - 10pts
2nd Place - 5pts
3rd Place - 2pts

These points can be traded in for a +1 Karma point or if you have enough points gathered even a Custom title. The more people who enter the more prizes will be handed out.

Good luck to all the entrants and get your modelling tools and brushes together to start working on this contest!

Do wraithguard and wraithlords count for this? They are controlled by a spirit stone, not by a living body (thus no flesh inside, just bones ;D... bad pun, I know)

Huh. And here I was thinking it actually had to be a robot. So no remote-control Land Raiders?

This contest really doesn't allow you much fluff-wise conversions, to sort it out:
-Tau: Drones (in their many varieties), or drone controlled small bots.
-Eldar: Wraithguard or Wraithlords.
-Necrons: Each and every of them.
-Imperium: They don't allow A.Is, as they remember what happened when their robots rebelled against human kind (gold era). When in need of A.Is they use servitors (which are human living beings) or dreadnoughts (which are almost dead humans).
-Orks: They don't have the intelligence nor the need to build A.Is.
-D. Eldar: I don't know much about them.
-Chaos: You could use daemon possesed engines as robots (as long as there's no flesh in them)
-Tyranids: Impossible, they are all flesh.

The Imperium actually has fairly advanced AI in the form of Machine Spirits. I've heard of an uncrewed Land Raider annihilating a tribe of Orks on it's own accord!

Honestly, all STC Imperial Vehicles ought to be fair-game. The Imperium can't create AIs from scratch, but they do seem to be built in to a lot of STC designs without the AdMech recognizing them for what they really are. The Dark Eldar Talos could work, depending on how strict you want to be. Technically speaking, none of the Eldar technology includes Artificial Intelligences. They are robots in some sense of the word, as are Battlesuits and Dreadnoughts.

This is probably a case where you try to honor the spirit of the contest rather than looking for exceptions. Just enter things that look like robots.

Amen to that...the Eldar Wraithlords and Wraithgaurd aren't acceptable and what Khanaris said about honouring the spirit of the competition was right. There's nothing to stopping you creating all sorts of wacky robots for different races!
