Default Interview Question and Answers - Full

How did you find Tau Online?
It was long ago, but I stumbled across the proboard forum TO had before moving onto its own URL. I joined up about 2-3 weeks before it moved across and stayed ever since.

What 40k armies do you play and why?
Dark Eldar and Space Marines mainly. I've also got Guard, Eldar, five Chaos armies and several others!

Where does your current display name come from?
It's my original name when I first joined the site back when I had my first Eldar army. Tyross is the name of my lead Farseer.

Where does your current avatar come from?
It's Vauxhall VX220 I have on Forza 3 that I regularly drive in the game is one of my favourite cars in the game. But I also have a feeling I may be changing it soon.

[hr]

Do you believe you'd prefer your time on TO as a normal member?
I don't

Do you ever feel as if you're spamming the forums since you have the 1st/2nd/3rd highest post count?
I constantly spam.

Do you ever want to just be a normal member again?
Certainly wouldn't.

Do you have aspirations to rule over anything?
I want to rule the world at one stage in the future, or at the very least, America.

Do you keep in touch with your parents?
Certainly do!

Do you like Waffles?
I actually prefer plain old chips with vinegar, tomato sauce and salt.

Have you ever seen this?
Not until then!

How are you managing those ninja scorpions and dangerous danny these days?
With a cattle prod :P.

How did you spend 3 nights in a room with me and Del, and with SILK next door, and not lose your sanity?
Your going off the assumption I had some sanity to start with

If you could blame all the forums problems on one member who would it be?
Skylight. Nuff said. :P

If you could change one thing in the rulebook or a codex, what would it be?
Allow the Dark Eldar to sweep into other units after massacreing an enemy in combat. That particular rule pretty much renders my Dark Eldar Wych cult army a one-hit wonder...

If you could choose any army from any system to be given to you for free, be totally combat effective, awesomely painted, and about 1000 in total worth, which would you pick?
That's a tough one. Porbably a tossup between Fantasy Goblin army (with some Savage Orc support) or a 40k Tyranid army (just because I wouldn't want to paint that many Tyranids ).

If you could kill one member and get away with it who would it be?
Wargamer. There doesn't have to be a reason why, does there?

If you could move one member up to be a co-admin who would it be?
.mace or Thor. Having some more technically adept members around couldn't be that bad of a thing.

If you could only have one person from the website with you in a zombie apocalypse, whom would it be?
Probably Rafe. He seems to play on Left for Dead so much that he's practically an expert on the whole zombie acpocalypse thing

If you could rename tau online what would you call it?
Dangerous Dan Online

In your opinion, are there any boards that you feel have deteriorated? How? & On a scale of 1-10: yes or how?
In general, all the 40k army boards have deterioriated to some extent. I miss the days when we had extensive fluff debates thrown around in the army boards and today they seem more rules related questions cropping up.

Is there any food you hate and why?
Olives and liver. Mixture of texture and taste on both counts.

Necrophilia, bestiality or coprophila?
All three!

Pirate or Ninja?
Ninja!

Pratchett; the books or the audiobooks read by Baldric, which do you prefer?
Baldric all the way

What is currently the biggest problem in the 40k game today?
Sweeping advances.

What is you favourite warhammer 40K race and why?
Probably the

What is your biggest hobby related project, how long did it take you and was it finished to your liking?
Porbably to date, the Four Winds of Chaos Codex. It took about 6 months to complete.

Red or a white. Not sure which I like the most.

What is your favorite gang in Necromunda and why?
Escher! Gotta love the ladies with guns

What is your favourite food?
Pizza!

What is your opinion on powerplaying and the people who do it?
If they're arrogant with it, then the only solution is a dreadsock.

What is your pet peeve about GW?
The Dark Eldar and their lack of love.

What whould you do for the Glory of Ultramar?
Virus bomb it from orbit then go hunting for the rest of the Ultramarine Chapter.

What would happen if Wargamer was one of your Co-Admins?
Would could I do? :P

What would you do if you were stranded on an island with a bird, a bottle of rum, snakes and a flare?
Eat the bird, drink the rum and use the flare as a light source. The snakes would be left to fend for themselves :P

What would you prefer a day in the life of khorne, slaneesh, nurgle or tzeentch? And why?
I'd probably pick Khorne or Slaanesh because they seem to have the most fun!

When and why did you start collecting exotic animals?
About three years ago now. I started with a snake (little Steth in fact) and it sort of spiralled onto scorpions, tarantulas and lizards.

Where and when would you park your TARDIS?
At the beginning of time, to urinate in the genepool nice and early just so we'd have more contestants for the Darwin awards..

Which [exotic pet] is the hardest to keep happy?
Probably little Steth because she likes to explore new places and tends to wander about in the tank aimlessly until she gets out.

Which Games Workshop & Warhammer related board do you most enjoy reading?
I enjoy reading the General 40k board and the Dark Eldar board.

Which GW game systems do you play?
Mainly 40k and a little Fantasy.

Which is Black Library book is your favorite?
Double Eagle

Which is your favorite faction to play with and why?
In 40k, it would probably be Dark Eldar because they're a challenge. In Fantasy, it would be the Skaven because I love the character of their race (devious back-stabbers who are als cowardly)

Which is your favourite GW game system?
40k because I find it easier to play

Which of your exotic pets do you like the most?
They all have their charms. If I had to pick one, it would have to be Steth with Dangerous Danny (both snakes) a close second and King Rapty third (the male Basilisk).

Which social networking sites have you joined?
It's a point of pride that I've never joined any of those sites

Which version of the over all rulebook did you like most and why?
I don't really have a favourite edition because they all have their plusses IMHO. 3rd had my favourite set of rules for combat, but I also like the cover rules from 5th edition.

Who is your favorite special character?
Kharne the Betrayer!

Why is it always your fault?
Because you say it is!

You have 24 hours to live, you are given access to unlimited resources and funds, what do you do?
Probably cage up Wargamer and ship him off to some distant island

Other than 40k, what other activities and hobbies do you enjoy doing?
Interacting with the animals and playing the 360.

3, where would you go and why?
Only on Earth ?

What do you want most out of life?
To attain daemonhood To live forever To raise an army of giant, man-eating scorpions. I don't really know at this point.

What is the best thing about being part of Tau-Online?
Does being immune to Wargamer count as an answer?

What has made you hate GW?
Who said I hate GW? I may not approve of some of the things they do, but thats no reason to hate them.

What is your greatest fear about the future of 40k?
In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only Space Marines...

Have you ever gotten violent over a game?
Never, can't say the same for my opponents though

What was the first warhammer model you ever saw?
Deathwing Terminator with assault cannon

Why do dogs have wet noses?
Because they like terrorising us with the wetness of their noses.

Default Re: Interview Question and Answer Place

How did you find Tau Online?
I honestly don't remember - it's been that long! I think Del may have had something to do with it...

What 40k armies do you play and why?
Most of my armies now collect dust. I bring the Ultramarines out now and then though. I play them because, like many people, I played Ultramarines at first. Of course, only about half a dozen models were ever painted as Ultramarines, but that's beside the point. I returned to them because I hoped, I really hoped, that 5th could rekindle my love of the hobby and replace the relentlessly growing hatred that 4th developed.

Where does your current display name come from?
That information is lost in the mists of time. It is known only to the Harlequins, for it is locked deep within the Black Libarary... probably.

Where does your current avatar come from?
Etna from Disgaea. She rocks. :P

Do you ever feel as if you're spamming the forums since you have the 1st/2nd/3rd highest post count?
Nope, although I do feel I am repeating myself over and over and over and over and over and over....

Do you have aspirations to rule over anything? (eg the internet, TO, the universe, google...)
Rule? Nah. Sit in the back of the houses of parliament with a shotgun on hand to make sure no 'mistakes' occur? Very much so.

What is your favorite gang in Necromunda and why?
Whilst I usually play Enforcers, my answer would be "anyone who can spam Autoguns!"

Pirate or Ninja?
God help you if you don't know the answer to that.

If you could only have one person from the website with you in a zombie apocalypse, whom would it be?
FT, so I could blame him for the Zombie Apocalypse. :P

Which GW game systems do you play?
It's quicker to list what I don't play! I've got game systems you've probably never heard of, like "Dark Future" or "Adeptus Titanicus". If it exists, did exist, I probably play it!

Exceptions being anything to do with LoTR. I just don't like that system.

Which is your favourite GW game system?
Man'O'War. No question. Gothic coming a close second.

Would we be safe if you were an admin?
What makes you think you're safe now? >

Which Games Workshop & Warhammer related board do you most enjoy reading?
I don't really enjoy any more than the others - it's the threads, not the board, that interest me.

In your opinion, are there any boards that you feel have deteriorated? How?
The Guard Board has deteriorated horribly since 3rd Edition...

On a scale of 1-10: yes or how?
What Pumpkin?

If you could choose any army from any system to be given to you for free, be totally combat effective, awesomely painted, and about 1000 in total worth, which would you pick?
I'd have an Empire Fleet for Man'O'War.

Have you figured out where she does keep it?
Yes, but for the sake of the kiddies I'm going to lie and say "Hammerspace".

What would you do if you were stranded on an island with a bird, a bottle of
rum, snakes and a flare?

Blame FT.

What would you prefer a day in the life of khorne, slaneesh, nurgle or tzeentch? And why?
Slaneesh. Why should be obvious!

If you could rename tau online what would you call it?
I wouldn't. :P

What is you favourite warhammer 40K race and why?
Oh, that's a bloody hard one... I like the Orks for their comedy, the Guard for their Humanity, the Tau for fighting the hopeless cause, The Eldar for embodying the hopeless cause, the Space Marines [Wolves far, far more than any other] because they are the iconic Men of Legend in the traditions of Jason, Hercules, Beowulf, etc.

I honestly can't name a favourite, but I'll say that I despise Necrons and Tyranids; neither have any personalities or 'soul' you can relate to, and Necron background is absolute crap.

You have 24 hours to live, you are given access to unlimited resources and funds, what do you do?
Blow up the Middle East, just so we won't have to listen to news reports about it anymore. :P

Do you like Waffles?
Depends who you put on them.

where and when would you park your TARDIS?
I'm afraid I can't explain without a seven-dimensional language.

Pratchett; the books or the audiobooks read by Baldric, which do you prefer?
Oh, the books are always better when read than when listened to, despite how awesome Baldric is.

Drunk or not drunk; in which state do you tend to be more abusive to stubborn members?
I'm acutally nicer the more I drink. :P

Which is your favorite faction to play with and why?
Ravensquig - it's not complicated, it's funny as hell, and it'll pretty much run itself. No hassle gaming!

Which version of the over all rulebook did you like most and why?
3rd. 4th pissed me off no end, and 5th has allowed a new breed of 'empty battlefield' gaming that disgusts me to the core.

Who is your favorite special character?
Wazdakka Gutsmek - the idea of him headbutting a Titan to death is just epic! ;D

What is your pet peeve about GW?
This habit of claiming to encourage 'casual' gaming, then building rulesets that encourage Tournament dick-lists.

Which Black Library book is your favorite?
I guess that'd be Necropolis.

What is currently the biggest problem in the 40k game today?
Deep Strike, followed swiftly by Outflank and Infiltrate.

What is your opinion on powerplaying and the people who do it?
If I could, I'd force-feed them their models as punishment.

What is your favorite color?
Black.

If you could kill one member and get away with it who would it be?
Only one?

If you could change one thing in the rulebook or a codex, what would it be?
I suppose I would fix the Space Marine transport capacity - Land Raiders and Drop Pods carry ten models, not twelve!

What is the single worst thing ever done by GW and its affiliates to the fluff of Warhammer 40,000?
The Necrons.

What whould you do for the Glory of Ultramar?
I field the Seventh Company. Isn't that enough?

What is your favourite food?
Chicken Curry.

Is there any food you hate and why?
Lamb. I just loathe it.

What is your biggest hobby related project, how long did it take you and was it finished to your liking?
God knows. I don't think I've ever finished a single one!

Do you believe you'd prefer your time on TO as a normal member? (no modship/adminship)
Hell no!

Which social networking sites have you joined?
"Social"? I'm not familiar with the term.

Other than 40k, what other activities and hobbies do you enjoy doing?
I'm a bit of a magpie - I tend to pick up activities at random. I'm currently teaching myself how to create levels on UnrealEd.

If you could go anywhere in the world on holiday, where would you go and why?
I guess I'd like to go to Austria again.

What do you want most out of life?
To be spared dealing with call centres, or the lying, thieving, back-stabbing bastards known as 'the government'.

What is the best thing about being part of Tau-Online?
I suppose it's having a user-base with the intelligence to read the rulebook before claiming to know rules; debating with people who can't spell 'debate' gets tiring very quickly.

Default Re: Interview Question and Answer Place

How did you find Tau Online?
Probably just through general searching. I had not been playing Tau very long and I was trying to figure out something about Broadsides.

What 40k armies do you play and why?
At the moment I am switching off between Dark Angels and Orks. I like fast elite armies, so the Orks are Evil Sunz and the Dark Angels are Ravenwing/Deathwing.

Where does your current display name come from?
It is a combination of "Khan" and "Canaris", after the Khans and Admiral Wilhelm Canaris.

Where does your current avatar come from?
It is profile art by Hyung Tau Kim from a Korean RPG called War of Genesis. I edit it periodically to change the facial expression.

Do you keep in touch with your parents?
I usually talk to them and my sister about once a week.

Necrophilia, bestiality or coprophila?
err...

Where does your custom title come from?
Partly from a book by that name by Paulo Coelho, and partly because I just like the general idea of alchemy and esoteric science.

What is your favorite gang in Necromunda and why?
Probably Orlock or Escher among the original gangs, although the Enforcers were my favorite.

Pirate or Ninja?
Undecided. A ninja would win in a fight, but I would rather be an air pirate. Do I really have to only choose one?

If you could only have one person from the website with you in a zombie apocalypse, whom would it be?
We don't really have enough female members.

Which GW game systems do you play?
I play 40k at the moment, but I have played Fantasy, Battlefleet Gothic, Mordheim, and Gorkamorka in the past.

Which is your favourite GW game system?
I am pretty split between Fantasy and 40k. Gorkamorka was my favorite.

In your opinion, are there any boards that you feel have deteriorated? How?
I think Tau has deteriorated a little, although not through any fault of those posting or moderating. I think the army itself is just getting a little stale as it ages.

If you could choose any army from any system to be given to you for free, be totally combat effective, awesomely painted, and about 1000 in total worth, which would you pick?
I might have a hard time playing an army painted by someone else, but that many models all at once is not something I would want to tackle. Probably Space Wolves, since that was my original plan that got side-tracked by Orks. Or Grey Knights.

Would you say your avatar is a representation of your actual coolness?
I don't really know. Maybe. I have been using it long enough that I do feel a lot of association with it.

What would you do if you were stranded on an island with a bird, a bottle of
rum, snakes and a flare?

Probably die drunk, poisoned, and on fire.

What would you prefer a day in the life of khorne, slaneesh, nurgle or tzeentch? And why?
Khorne. As the most straight-forward of the lot.

If you could rename tau online what would you call it?
Pretty much used to it by now. I wouldn't change it.

What is you favourite warhammer 40K race and why?
Tau, because I like their background and overall "feel". Or Orks, because I like their rules and how much fun it is to play them and convert models for them. With Orks you never have to take anything seriously.

You have 24 hours to live, you are given access to unlimited resources and funds, what do you do?
Unlimited? I guess I would want to go to sea. But I would spend the time with my family. But I guess if I really had unlimited resources, I would try to find a way to live more than 24 more hours.

Do you like Waffles?
Of course. With strawberries.

where and when would you park your TARDIS?
We don't have Police boxes in Wisconsin, so it would have to be somewhere where I could cover it. Otherwise the average passer-by would be more likely to assume that it was a TARDIS.

Pratchett; the books or the audiobooks read by Baldric, which do you prefer?
Never listened to the audiobooks, but I like the novels.

Which version of the over all rulebook did you like most and why?
After a rocky start, 5th Edition has really grown on me. There are still a lot of things I liked better about 4th, particularly in terms of Missions.

Who is your favorite special character?
Toss-up between Sammael and Wazdakka. Although I have to give Azrael a special mention since he has done so well for me.

What is your pet peeve about GW?
I don't like the extent to which they have corporatized the advertising, particularly in the magazine. I would much rather they focus on producing new rule content that can be used with the game rather than trying to sell people what they would have purchased anyway.

Which is Black Library book is your favorite?
Anything by Sandy Mitchell, but "For the Emperor" is probably my favorite.

What is currently the biggest problem in the 40k game today?
Attitude, in the US. GW has really stopped writing rules with tournaments in mind, but a lot of players still expect the game to be balanced for hypercompetitive play.

What is your opinion on powerplaying and the people who do it?
I play to win, but I like playing the game more than I like winning the game. I will deliberately do things for fun even if they might not be the most likely to lead to a win. Fortunately, this usually isn't a problem with Orks. I don't have a very high opinion of powergamers in general, but I can cut them some slack if they are friendly during the game. I don't think list-building is much of a skill, so I don't have much respect for people who try to win their games with tactics that rely on a heavily-tuned list. I would rather see more tactical ability on the table with "sub-optimal" units.

What is your favorite color?
Blue-green if I had to pick just one. Red and green together are my favorite combination.

If you could change one thing in the rulebook or a codex, what would it be?
I would make Jaws of the World Wolf effect units rather than models in the same manner as a template weapon. That was just sloppy on GW's part.

What would you do for the Glory of Ultramar?
Besmirch it, probably. Smurfs have more than enough glory already.

What is your favourite food?
Spaghetti with meat sauce. Or sushi. I can make spaghetti, though, so that is probably the top.

Is there any food you hate and why?
Natt?. Fermented soybeans. There aren't many foods I have tasted in my life that I can honestly say that I hated, but natt? is one of them. I had it for breakfast and was still tasting it that night.

What is your biggest hobby related project, how long did it take you and was it finished to your liking?
The biggest is the Battlefortress I am working on now. It keeps growing, and I haven't had the heart to add up how much money I have put into it so far.

Do you ever feel as if you're spamming the forums since you have the 1st/2nd/3rd highest post count?
Not really. I tend to respond to posts rather than create threads. But I try not to post unless I have more than a few sentences to add.

Do you have aspirations to rule over anything? (eg the internet, TO, the universe, google...)
The sea. Or the vast, uncharted skies.

Do you believe you'd prefer your time on TO as a normal member? (no modship/adminship)
I was more involved with the day-to-day posting in Tau when I was a board moderator. These days I spend a lot of time just checking up on things. But I don't really mind spending the time.

Which social networking sites have you joined?
Facebook. I think I am still on the Tau Online group.

Other than 40k, what other activities and hobbies do you enjoy doing?
I was doing Kendo for a while. I like jogging and kayaking, but I haven't had much time for either lately. I also do N-scale model railroading. I am still a graduate student, so hobbies are a little tough.

If you could go anywhere in the world on holiday, where would you go and why?
Probably back to Japan. I loved traveling there on my own, and there is still a great deal I want to see. I would also like to visit China and New Zealand.

What do you want most out of life?
I think of my life as a story, so I want it to progress in certain ways. What I am doing at any one time is less important than how I am progressing from one thing to another. I would never want to be in a position where I was "stopped" for any length of time. I want to live without doubts or regrets.

What is the best thing about being part of Tau-Online?
I think we have a very warm and social community. For the most part members are honestly interested in helping each other out, and the relationships are deeper than just a few hobbyists talking about a game.

What would be your advice to members for successful posting in the Serious Debate and Discussion Board?
Keep the "metagame" of a discussion in mind whenever you are posting. Your opinion is important, and you want to convey it. But the way in which you convey it is also very important. You can learn things from arguing with people that have nothing to do with the actual argument. It helps you learn how to compose your thoughts. How to present ideas in ways that will influence the opinions of others. Diplomacy and interpersonal skills. Being on a forum rather than face-to-face gives you more opportunity to consider an issue and frame a good response. Don't waste it by firing off opinions like lawn darts and just letting them hit everyone down-field. Debating is very similar to sparring in many martial arts. The point isn't really to "win". Your opponent is not there to be beaten. He or she is helping you become better, and you should be grateful and show them respect because of that.

What is your greatest fear about the future of 40k?
That GW will eventually fold, selling the IP off to software companies and taking it out of the miniature gaming business. I think they are pretty much going in the right direction at the moment, though, considering how bad the economy has been.

Have you ever gotten violent over a game?
Not a game of 40k. But there are certainly violent games that I have made more violent.

What was the first warhammer model you ever saw?
The first I can recall was a Squat Land Train from Epic, although I didn't know what it was until several years later.

Why do dogs have wet noses?
Supposedly it helps make their sense of smell more precise. They lick them constantly.
