Like what really? :P

I really like how the site looks now because it's well set out and easy to move around. I've been on other forums which look 'cooler/more hi tech' but they are also really difficult to navigate and very off putting as they buttons and links and little bits and pieces all over the place...but that's just my opinion

There are a lot of themes available - check out this board on Simple Machines, and this thread.

Thats on another forum though (of the company that makes the forum software) - If you see any you like, post the name/link to it here and we'll check it out.

The forum default theme is xtEnhanced.

You can change your theme by going here > http://forums.tauonline.org/index.ph...ofile;sa=theme and clicking on '(Change)' where it shows your current theme.

Well...The SMF skins we have now are pretty high quality. To produce an 80's-esque Westminster space-age white-dominated-with-black-outline-and-light-grey-shading theme, would take quite a bit of work, because there are so few colors to work with, though it would look Tau-esque in the end.

Skinning takes a long, long time, and is very painful, like getting a tattoo.

Though nothing is stopping me or anyone of us from making a skin and offering it to TO, though you'd need to check into some SMF CSS code to get you foundation, and just work from there with your own images. Wouldn't be to 'ard.

Though I don't like skinning that much...

Anyway, the default theme is totally user-friendly for newbs, and uncomplicated and generic. I'd rather have an generic theme (think vBulletin) than the B&C's theme.

Ultimately, a generic main theme with other chooseable themes is the best option, IMHO. It's up to the b'Oss, though.
