Default Future Changes to Warnings/Smites (Discussion)

I think how long registered could play a part.

A guy joine a month ago being banned for 10 smites is definately okay but a guy who has been here for 5+ years and maybe has 1-2 isolated times a year isn't really that bad as they aren't a repeat offender just may get hot under the collar sometimes.

Joking aside.... doesn't this seem needlessly complicated? The site already goes down whenever I try to post a really long post in the middle of the night, especially on my computer without word :P Wait, that's not joking aside. That's... more jokes in a different line of thought.

As a question, is it 10 Smites and you're banned or 10 negative karma total and you're banned?

Sounds like a good system
Maybe label all of the old smites as 'mod smites' and the new ones as 'warning smites' if you know what I'm getting at (basically old ones are named a little differently )

Essentially: 10 smites = 10 negative karma so it's the same thing.

I think what he meant was can you avoid being banned by compensating with good karma?

Not as I understand it, no. They are to be seperated. FT please correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't got time to double-check from our conversation earlier.

Im assuming that anybody who already has -10 is not going to be automatically banned then? Could we get a list from this as to what kind of action get you what kind of warning?

If positive equals out the negative... It would be ridiculous. In this case it gives certain members much more power to be asshats for no good reason.

I think, then, if we are promoting a warning percentage system tied to karma, that the flip side should be tied in somehow as well.

Maybe some sort of "experience" type bar where we can see our progress towards the next piece of karma and lets people work towards a visible goal.

100 points gets a karma point and limit any one injection/percentage to 20% at a time for one thing. That also removes some of the spammier karma gainers (not posters, but actions) and removes any supposed bias from that side of things as well.
