Default Regional Forums?

I went TDY to London for the past few days, and I wanted to try to visit a GW store there but didn't have enough time. It got me thinking though, that it would be nice to have regional forums so that people who lived close to each other could perhaps meet people from their area and organize games and such.

Maybe even an announcements forum for each region, saying if there are tournaments where members could meet up...

I like this idea, but it sounds like we'd need a craplaod of regions. :P

This is why it's a bad idea. How does one divide up regions? On a continent basis? National? By city? We'd either end up with a bunch of boards covering large areas that need further breakdown into innumerable, un-manageable threads, or a billion smaller boards that would be an even bigger pain to keep track of.

Sounds like a good idea if its split well.

I'd say..

North America
South America
Africa
Europe
Australia/Oceania/Asia (covering Aus/NZ/malaysia/china/hk etc)

Then just sub threads for relevant states/countries...

What's wrong with the Member Map?

Appart from the fact that there's only like 20 tags on there and that last I tried to load it up it didn't work... I ask again, what's wrong with the Member Map? :P

On the RX8club forums I end up spending most of my time in the regional forums, and I've seen lots of meets get organized through them. I think that they should be setup as such,

West Coast USA
Central USA
East Coast USA
Canada
Western Europe
Eastern Europe
Central Europe
Asia

The next time I go TDY somewhere I would love to see if anyone is in the area I'm being sent to and try to organize a game, it would be a blast.

It would be a little more tricky with Europe. Don't forget, that if you speed up in your car, before you have a chance to notice, you are in a different country with different language. ;D

Travelling is much easier within the Schengen territory, but still, our perception of places being too far apart is way different than in the USA.

3 sections for Europe would be fine, considering posts in languages other than English are not allowed so I don't think we have to worry if I want to drive over to France to play a game with someone over there.
