Default are all threads needed?

i was just floating in the off-topic section, and i noticed 2 threads- "what are you listening to now" and "ask the next person a question". Each was 150+ pages long.

are they needed? Surely they take up a hell of a lot of the bandwidth for this site. Why not delete them, and open up new version of the above with "volume 2" stapled on the end?

I'm not saying they're worthless threads, but do we need them that big?

They are the grey warriors, ashen like the wolf, whose greatest joy is to hear the clamour of steel amidst the din of war. None can step before them, they are the first, proud in their strength and jealous of their renown. Through the storms of the warp they come, upon the very tides of terror, but of such dangers they are uncaring. They are the Space Wolves, the Undefeated, the bane of the Emperor's foes."

Luckily off-topic posts don't count towards people's post counts. There has been an increase in spam from the off-topic board, maybe in the future something will be done to change the off-topic board so there's less/no spam..

Yeah, most forums ignore general discussion posts for post count.
But I'm not asking about spam, lord. I'm asking are those few threads too big? and lets face it, no one will read page 1-148. So they are just wasting your bandwidth. Why not delete the threads, and start them again?

And out of curiousity, lord TO: do you get paid for doing this?

I think that the bandwidth issue isn't a great one; bandwidth is more from image downloads than anything else. As for getting paid, the website has Google adverts on it, and they cover hosting costs, and I make a bit extra as well.

In that case, so is sex. Therefore, pornstars and prostitutes are professional athletes.

Those posts will take up the database, but not the bandwidth, unless everyone systematically looks at each page. And I wouldn't expect them to take up much space when it comes to KB.
