Now generally, Windows Live would delete this automatically, however, it was sent "from Tauonline.org forum member".

Can someone shed some light into this? :-\

your profile shows your email. Someone creates a account here (takes, what just a few minutes?) and patrols through the profiles taking in applicable email addresses.

Sends you this garbage.

They patrol ebay, pretty much anywhere that openly gives an email address for contract info. Its cheap.

see if they will pain a red breast logo. >

Remember, there is always the option to hide one's email, I can understand that some would not want that, but I did it for EXACTLY such reasons.

Shoot. They must have mined the public list. It is easy enough for us to keep spam-bots out, but we can't really screen for this sort of thing.

Was your address public, Deraj? I didn't get one, but we have a pretty heavy filter on the university accounts.

I was going to ask why you didn't just click my profile, but then I realized you're a mod, so instead I'll respond with a simple yes. Though if you read the email, it is pretty funny actually...

These letters first appeared in my country in mid-90's. Most of them were stamped in Nigeria and so earned a nickname "Nigerian Letters". My father, a lawyer, also got one. I still have it stored as one of the jewels of my stamps collection. ;D

The less funny part is that quite a few people got blinded by the view of easy money gain, and they fell prey to these criminals. One of these cases even resulted in the murder of the Nigerian Consul by one of our senior citizens, since the Consul had supposedly been involved in one of the worse cases where that citizen lost a huge amount of money. What is even worse, the family still believe they can get their money back even after all this going through the media. They are just unable to accept that their money got plainly stolen. :-\

I say reply and ask him for money to build an extension onto your house to accomodate him. You might be able to re-scam him.
