Default Tactics page

The spelling and grammer on the tactics page was irritating me...here it is again! Sorry if im too critical but if this site is to be taken seriously we need it to look professional!



I have played Tau for about a year now, and these are my thoughts from my experience.
Overall, when I use my Tau army, I first go for a large amount of models that I think suit my style of play.
Then I start choosing fancy weapons and wargear. It is so easy to bog down elite Crisis suits with a huge array of fancy weaponry.
Do not fall into this trap!
Outnumbering an opponent will cause immediate intimidation. Projecting a huge volume of fire over and over again from a single sqaud will cause him to shout;
"Cheese!"
or some other form of profanity which is a sure sign of fear.
Even a tough army like the Space Marines will have a hard time trying to maneuver under a hail of fire.
Keep in mind that it is more difficult for your Broadside and
Crisis teams to be targeted if the opponent cannot kill the huge amount of Fire Warrior and Kroot sqauds by the end of the 6th turn!

The new (4th Ed.) assualt rules really benefit the Tau, because it is now far more difficult for an enemy unit to destory a sqaud in an assault.
So, never underestimate the ability of a large Kroot sqaud in close combat.

hmm on the note of the tactics page, maybe add this tactic:

Kroot Charge - basic

Position a full squad of 20 kroot close to a firewarrior squad/s. if one of the squads gets charged, the next available assault turn by the tau, charge the kroot forwards and hopefully get them all into combat. this will achieve - 3 attacks per model that gets into contact (1 for the standard attacks, 1 additional from kroot rifle, 1 extra for charging)

Kroot Charge - extra
- replace some of the kroot with kroot hounds.
advantages: this means 1 less point per model replaced, hounds get 2 attacks normally +1 for charging AND if the enemy breaks, the kroot hounds inflict an automatic hit.
disadvantages: no kroot rifle, they cant shoot back..
- replace some of the kroot with krootox.
advantages - one extra attack, + a better gun then the rest of the sqaud
disadvantages - takes up heavy slot, better used for broadsides and hammerheads.. expensive as well..
