Default Fleshing out Specialist Games info on the main site

Hi.

As those of you who have read some of my posts before are probably aware, I'm quite keen on the Specialist Games (such as Battlefleet Gothic, Epic and so forth) - in terms of gameplay they easily out-shine 40k, and in terms of the influecne on the 40k mythos they are indispensible.

Unfortunately, going from much of what I have seen on the main site so far, you wouldn't know it!

There's hardly any mention of the likes of BFG or Epic at all - no rundowns of how the games play, no details of the presence of the Tau in each game system, no examples of Tau starships or Epic-scale armies up to show off.

And when it comes to discussing this or that race's presence in the universe (such as with Wargamer's rant against the Necrons) the often quite different story seen in other game systems is missed. (The Necrons first properly emerged on the tabletop in Battlefleet Gothic, where they are quite unique - and annoying! - and there is an in-dev list for the Necrons in Epic which looks very interesting...)

Of course, this is the worst time of year to be talking about this, but perhaps in the New Year we could try to gather a few of us who are more familiar with the SG range and see about adding a thing or two to the main site. We could use this thread to figure out who can - or would - do what, and what shape we'd want an SG presence on the main site to look like.

Any ideas?

Gary

I'm happy with this if there's people willing to submit articles for this (etc). To start with, I think this would be best served as a "Specialist Games" section under the "Misc." bit of the website's nav bar, however if the section grows more popular we can always look at expanding it a bit more?

Well, here's one you could start with...

To Unite the Stars: an introduction to Tau in Gothic

Sounds good! Okay then, if there's no major objections to the following by the New Year, such a section will be created?

1) A 'Specialist Games' section (under the 'Misc.' category) will be added to the site

2) A committee will be setup to help write articles for the section

3) Suggestions? :P

to be honest, it sounds like a great idea. Although adding this would end up with people asking for more games to be added, like necromunda, and maybe that fantasy one (forgot the name).

Also, off topic, did you get a wii too, T.O? ;D

If there's such a demand for those other games than it wouldn't be a terrible thing... although I've always said I'd prefer to keep things to as 40K based as possible (as apposed to going off to Warhammer related games etc). Although that can be discussed again.

Yep 'Tis brilliant! I'm guessing you're enjoying yours?
