Default Remove the forum ranking system?

Hello,
I've been reading the 'Spamming' thread and I'm starting to agree with some of the points on it. The amount of spam in this forum has been increasing IMO. Do you think I should take off the forum ranking system? This should probably decrease the amount of spam here, because there's no need to!
Please vote on the poll, and comments in this thread would be apprecaited,
Tau Online

IMO, posting a lot doesn't show if the person is a good member, it shows they can post a lot. Take CourtesyGrot for instance, he only has 42 posts at this moment, but all of his posts are long and helpful. He's a good member here, despite his post count. What I'm trying to say is that post counts don't really matter. Also post counts will still be around, all that would change is that there woulg be no ranks anymore.

You have any idea how much time that would take up? lets say it takes a minute to change a custom title, and we have so many members now that basically it would simply take too long.

Anyway. How about re-installing the Karma system but only allowing the mods and staff access to it?

the post count tbh while considered by some to be a status symbol aint really.

i personally use it as a guide when reading replies to my posts (e.g. hes new hes only made 20 posts and hes calling my an idiot) - therefore i can ignore that

whereas someone with 1200 odd posts will have been here a while without getting kicked off, therefore his opinions have more value than aforesaid n00b

the only way this changes imho is when a personas reputation precedes them

Sorry but iv not got a clue what the karma system is.

I dont think the ranking system should be removed as it is a nice little addition to the site, it ties the tau theme in and is one of the main reasons for getting the newer members posting. Ranking systems do further the site.

About the custom titles, not everybody needs them, you could just simply put spammer under the few worst TO spammers and this would be a big deterant to everybdy else, and if its just a few it shouldnt get out of hand and wont take long.
Eventually when the person stops spamming it will be removed and there will be no more need forthem.

But anyway i dont think that the ranking system should be dropped, as im pretty sure that some of theyounger or newer players or members will leave, which again would detract from the site.

how about rank is not on how many posts but rather chosen by you and the other Gmods, every month or so you decided if "person" has contributed well to the forums then they go up in rank. it may be a little extra work but it might bring spamming down and you will be able to keep ranking system.
Its cool watching your rank go up and up ;D
