Ok Upcoming i have a battle with my tau vs a necron destroyer list. This necron force it currently undefeated and this will be my first bout bs them. I decided that i should be the one to knock down his army a notch and back to reality with my mech tau force . Now i know what your thinking TANKS VS necrons OMGZOR no. But i have confidence in the surviveability of 7 tanks tooled up specifically for this game >.<

His list is as follows -

Necron Lord - 200 points
-Destroyer Body, Phase shifter, Res orb

Night Bringer - 360 points

12 destroyers (3 units of 4) - 600points (200each)

6 Heavy destroyers (2 units of 3) - 390pts (195each)

2 Tomb spiders - 110

20 warriors (2 units of 10) - 360pts

total 2020pts (its a friendly game so he can be over slightly)

Now since he is bringing a ctan i think i can justify remodeling my armyslightly. here is what i plan on bringing.

Now would you consider this a cheesey list since i conformed it to beat him, and also any suggestions would be welcome . General plan is too just simply out range him with massed ap3 fire and make him come to me then ambush him with crisis and possibly fire warrior drops. As said before any comments/suggestions are welcomed

Honestly dude, I don't like your buddy's list at all. I mean that with a passion. 2 minimum Warrior squads and the rest being specialist units? I think that your list would fare rather well against it, and bringing the Disruption Pods were a nice touch. However, you must remember that it only reduces the range by 6 inches up to a minimum of 24 inches or less (if the range of the weapon is less than that). If you can get him to commit his forces at multiple point, then you should have no trouble with them. Divide and conquer XD...<("&lt (>")> The Tau in concept should have a very fluid combat style. Think like water, and you'll get the idea. Get him into a kill pocket and have fun! Realign, Kauyon, Mont'ka, repeat.

yea i dont like his how his hq out points his troops lol

but yea,ill be playing him sometime this week most likely and hopefully ill make him stop using the list if i destroy it fast enough >.<

for some further advice on his list, I'd say that you would want to concentrate on his Destroyer Squads first, as they can and will possibly chew your Fire Warriors up with a massive amount of AP 4 firepower. Next would be the Tomb Spyders and the NightBringer in equal priority as the 'Spyders can spew out Scarab Swarms every turn...if I can remember correctly. Oh, and also remember that the C'Tan ignores Difficult Terrain when moving. An useful little tidbit to know One last hint/tip you might find useful. CONCENTRATE FIREPOWER! If there are no Necrons of similar type within 6" of them then they can't do the we'll be back. But, I'm not sure if that applies to the squads if they are completely wiped out. Ask for your buddy's Codex on that one. I haven't played Necrons in Forever. However, Helios configurations instead of FIreknives might be in order...that is if you haven't already glued on the weapons. Let us know how it goes! "May all their oil leak out"

my plan was to ignore night bringer until he starts to get close then missle pods will go to work.

scrabs arent a big deal with a spider pods insta kill them ^.^
i was gonna take down his heavy destroyers first, then his destroyers and or spiders depending on how he deployed.
night bringer will feel missle pods of doom when he gets into a range that i see unfit. if any destroyers get within 30 inches of my tansk iwill plasma them. (true reason for plasma guns and disruptions) also the seekers have their names on some more destroyers
